Velocity Diets????
I have been reading some tremendous sucess stories about velocity diets in this subforum. Then I go to other parts of this site where people are adamant about 5-6 perfectly nutritionally balanced meals per day. I am confused. According to some of the advice given here such a low calorie diet causes fat to hang around (starvation mode), yet there are numerous sucess stories using the velocity diet. What gives?

Muscle loss doesnt cause starvation mode, not enough calories do. I.e. V Diet.
Makes you wonder if "starvation mode" is even as bad as its made out.

The V-Diet will not send you into "starvation mode". You are getting 60-70% of your maintenaince rate with the Velocity Diet. That is hardly enough of a deficit to cause your body to starve. The calories are also coming from nutrient dense sources such as casein, whey, salmon oil, flax seed, etc.
It is general knowledge that starvation mode does not start until you start dipping below 40-50% of your calorie intake and even then it may not trigger it. Eating 2000 calories a day over 5-6 meals a day is hardly starvation.

But everyone says no less than 1500 absolute minimum.
I also lift weights 3 times a week and do 40 mins cardio 5-6 times a week. My maintenance must be quite high. Which would mean more calories would be used for energy and less for my body to live on which in turn is the whole cause of starvation mode.

Why is someone who hasn't finished growing, attempting a low-carb diet?

I never said i would.
And i'm not arguing about anything, im discussing it.
Plus for my stats 1300 calories IS starvation level.
The weight you lost is pure water weight, hence why you didnt lose anything on day 3.

What is starvation level for my stats?
You get all the "gurus" in this forum going on about no less than 1800 a day.

the difference is that the velocity diet is a timed diet only lasting 28 days. it is an insane diet for insane people (i lost 20 lbs on it) and is not for everyone. the failure rate is high.
i completed the diet at the beginning of summer and like others all my major lifts went up. it has been over 3 months and i weigh 1 pound more than when i finished the diet, no nasty rebound or slowed metabolism.
the general board population is giving you the best advice for long term health and wellness. no one who has done the v-diet will argue that it is healthy or good for long term fat loss.

Still loosing at a good pace, almost at the same rate as when I was on the vdiet, so thats a good thing. Wont last for more than a few more days, wierd that it's even going that fast... Proves thats it's still going strong and I have not had issues with my metabolism just hitting rock bottom and now i'm stuffed like what ppl though would happen...

1. well it must be one of them unless its a trick question
2. Dont know, the diet worked though...
3.Coz I didn't wanna die like ppl did years ago from lack of water expect in their shakes.
4. Thats what the bb.com search function is for
5. see number 4
6. I'm not on the diet, I finished it with awsome results and did it coz i hear good things about it...

Well something doesnt add up. The V Diet equation for calories puts anyone into the starvation mode boundry for calories. 1300 calories for me! That must be starvation level.
Either that or starvation mode doesnt exist, and people just convince themselves it does so they can eat more cake to stay away from it.
