18% is pretty high body fat. I would cut down to 14-15% at least before finding a contest than do your 12-14 week prep to be ready.

yours
why ask us when you should start competing? it's your body you know it better than any of us. if u want to compete and get some experience under your belt go for it. you don't know how you will do until you try it. the longer you wait the harder it will be to finally sign up for one.

If you can find a contest and you have enough time to diet down then I say go for it.
Alot of the people here are saying your not ready, but your first contest isn't about winning or even placing, its about learning.
There'll probably be 19 year olds there who've been competing two or three years and would kick most peoples ass anyways.
Your first competition is the most important, because its an invauluable learning experience and its fun!
Not only will you learn alot more about competition, you'll learn so much more about your body.
If you can find a contest and you feel your capable of hitting contest shape by the time it arrives then I say go for it. Enjoy yourself, I guarantee once you've competed you'll get the bug, and you'll never look back.

having competed in teenage contests in the past year and seeing other competitors I would not recommend you compete just yet. Your not lean enough. You have a mild case of teenage Gyno. Id start working on your chest more to see if you can build it up so the gyno goes away or is less visible. You will know when you are ready to compete you wont have to ask.
