oatmeal
I'm lucky, Eggs are my favorite food and I like tuna and chicken a lot too.
My problem is oatmeal, I haven't found a way to make oatmeal in a way that I can eat it with out making it unhealthy.
How do you eat your oatmeal?

Oatmeal is delicious! What are you talkin about?!
lol it's ok tho, I need to spice mine up in the mornings some times too. For me, I sometimes do a little cocoa powder/splenda mix to make it nice and sweet. (I highly recommend this one)
Another, that I've been doin as of late, is adding in a scoop of whey, mixing with milk until nice and soupy, and throwin it in the microwave. Comes out delicious every time.
Other people like to do cinnamon, eggs, brown sugar, honey, and/or throw them in the blender with a banana and make a shake.

Just follow package directions . . .
I don't understand the problem, about the only way 2 make oatmeal unhealthy is 2 put a lot of unhealthy fat in2 it, like margarine w/ hydrogenated oils, or dump a lot of refined sugar or coffee cream on it.
Just follow package directions, put some low-fat milk & Splenda on it & ur good.

Always hated oatmeal because as the other posts shows, people usually eat oatmeal with some kind of sweetness to it. Now I eat it with eggs, tuna, or ground beef. If I want a quick meal I'll just use olive oil and salt.

it has nothing to do with having to eat it with sweetness to it.
its the same concept as putting seasoning on your chicken.

I alwyas thought that if u cooked the oatmeal with milk and then heated it in the microwave especially with whey in it.. it would denture the protein? is that true or false?
and how does oatmeal taste with milk in the microwave.. i dont know if im too found of warm milk in oatmeal mixed 2gether w/ whey.. that suodns kind of strange
my favorite for oatmeal is 1 cup of oats, about 3/4 cup of skim milk *like mine thick* toss on 1 scoop of whey and mix 2gether .. then put ur favorite cut up fruit in there on top of that and put it in the fridge overnight to make it nice n cool and it gets really thick..
great cold breakfast for ya

Thanks for all the ideas, I'll be experimenting for a while to see what ones work the best for me.

I've never had my oatmeal cooked with water...milk just makes it taste so sweet, I can only imagine that it would be too bland if I cooked them with water. Try it with water, I like it ALOT, adds a nice sweetness to it.
As far as cold oatmeal goes, I gotta side with Layzie on this one in saying that cold oatmeal PWNS! If you've never tried oatmeal after putting it in the fridge over night...I suggest you try it immediatly. Gives it a nice thick quality, almost makes me savor it more lol, idk, it just tastes SO good.

If you love eggs, here's an idea. Sometimes I'll scramble my eggs while I heat up some oats, then toss the eggs into the oats, toss a piece of cheese on top, then nuke it another 15 seconds or so, and add some tobasco, salt, pepper, and stir it all up. It's like one of those Jimmy Dean breakfast bowls, but MUCH better.

Add strawberries with a little bit of chemically created fat free kool whip.
Or my latest creation...put very little water in the oats, just enough to get them wet and cook them for double the time. You get this little crunchy oat bar to eat.

cook the oatmeal until it's still a little runny, then pour over a mixture of some good tasting protein powder (i prefer a chocolate, or a cookies and cream), some raisins, and mixed nuts. add a chopped banana. wallah!

well probably depends on the power of the microwave, but i used about 1/2 cup oats + 1 cup milk and then mic it for like 2 min 30 sec (so it doesn't bubble over). i take it out, stir, mic for maybe one more minute and a half then take it out.

Fresh blueberries on top.
Or, a good dose of cinnamon and some Splenda.

First I actually cook whatever kind of fruit I'm mixing with it, be they strawberries, blueberries, bananas, mangos, peaches, nectarines, etc. in a mixture of water and whatever seasoning I'm using, be it cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, cocoa powder, carob powder, and so on. I then take out the cooked fruit, mash it up, and add a little more water to get a watery fruit mush. Then I dump in the oats and cook them in that to let them absorb all that flavor. When I take that out of the microwave, I stir in a Kroger Carb Master yogurt and 3/4 cup eggwhites to add protein and make it nice and thick, and I stick it back in so the eggwhites can cook, taking it out periodically to stir the eggwhites so they don't "scramble". Anyway, it ends up as this massive oat "pudding" for lack of a better word, and while a little labor intensive, it's definitely worth the trouble when I have time.
