Obliques are very important. They help give you the "V" shaped body and compliment your abs big time. I like to grab a 25 lb plate on a decline bench. Grab the plate firmly with both hands and lean back to approx. a 45 degree angle (greater the angle the better). Slowly move the plate and rotate your body to either side back and forth. When you rotate, try to flex your abs (this helps the burn big time). I also like to superset this activity with some decline crunches with the plate for your upper abs. If you do this 2 or 3 times a week and eat a good diet, you will defiantly have nice obliques.

P.S. Those bodybuilders who don't care about obliques do not have the complete package. They might be big, but who wants love handles?

Well, you can do both. I like to switch it up a lot. Sometimes I'll do more reps. Sometimes I'll do a heavier weight. But once you get the form down you will be able to preform more reps at heavier weights. Just make sure not to go too heavy and pull something! The lower back can be fragile, but this workout should not only help your obliques, but your core as well!
