Monday- Chest, Calves
Tuesday- Back, Abs
Wednesday- Biceps, Triceps, Forearms
Thursday- Quadriceps, Hamstrings, Calves
Friday- Shoulders, Abs
Saturday- Rest Day
Sunday- Rest Day
question.. is it better to workout a body part such as my chest and arms once a week or at least 2 times a week? ive been gettin mixed responses on that. can someone help me out?

I'm not sure how you came up with that routine but it's very........ different.
Veterans would probably go with something like...
Chest/Tri
Back/Bi
Legs
All the rest
We'll be waiting with interest to see what the teen and workout section gives you to the same question..

Your schedule is fine Calvin. Make sure and eat, a lot! You look like the kind of kid that can eat all he wants. Just make sure you get lots of protein. At your age, you'll be surprised at what you can accomplish by training hard and eating big. Best of luck son. ed

If you want to gain mass work the hell out of your legs, everything else will follow.

Ohhhhh Okay.. Only do Bicep curls like all the rest of the teenagers in the gym. That way you can have showy bicepts, but no tri's, chicken legs, poor back and no delts. That should impress the girls, or guys if you are inclined that way. No point working your legs because you probably wear pants most of the time and that's not showy...LOL

Don't be snarky. There is nothing wrong with "showy muscles"..........
Calvin is just a young man who wants to lift to improve the way he looks. What could be more normal than that? He is interested enough in a routine and perhaps his diet to come to the over 35 section to ask.
I think what you are looking to do is great Cal, I hope you really like working out enough to stick with it all your life. Its a great habit to develop. Who knows you might even become a Body Builder or a Trainer or a Nutritionist?
If you want more input into your diet or anything else please don't hesitate to ask.
Hope you do get your guns

Your routine is fine. Hit it HARD. Do compound movements. Eat a lot of clean food. Sleep. You'll get where you want to go.

IMHO, if you're just starting out find a routine that will work each muscle group twice a week if not 3 times a week. Davedraper.com has some good stuff. I wouldn't work each bodypart only once, but that's just my opinion.
What exactly does your routine look like? How many exercises per bodypart? How many sets per exercise? How many reps?

If you train with enough intensity, then once a week per body part is pretty much all you need. Calves twice in a week are okay, I suppose, but if I hit my calves hard, they're too sore even to the touch to be able to hit again 2 days later.
Just remember...the workout serves only as a stimulus for growth. It's the rest you provide it that allows it to actually. Keep it down to about an hour a day per your workout, and train hard and regularly. Good luck.

Stick with heavy compound movements, Squats, Deads, Pullups, Barbell Rows, Benches, Dips, etc. Training 5 days straight doesn't leave much recovery ( even for a young kid). The arms in particular get a bit over trained. Maybe train each body part up to 2x a week, but only train 4 days/week. Give yourself time to recover and grow. Train heavy with perfect form and progress the weights as often as possible. If you are not gaining strength you might be doing too much. You had better be eating up to 6 times per day also.
Well, just some thoughts. Good luck!

If your just starting out, I would try : squats( best mass maker ever), bench press( builds tri and chest), and bent barbell rows( builds back and bis). Do this on the m/w/f scuechual (or 1on 1 off) for 4 to 6 weeks then move on to more exercises. Otherwise you will still be ok with what you have, just old supers advice.
