*** Important LEG PRESS Questions ***
When using the Leg Press, do you (those of you that have a specific routine for Legs) use it as a power movement or more of a volume & "defining" movement? Also, do you Leg Press early in your routine or later in your routine? Last but not least, do you find the Leg Press to be as good as any form of Squats (BB Back Squats, BB Front Squats, Hack Squats, & SM Squats) or do they "fall behind" all forms of Squats?
I'll be giving out some GREEN to those who respond ...

sometimes i start with leg press first.. i dont do "power" exercises, makes no sense to me.. but i think they're a great leg builder and obviously if you're progressing on anything you should be getting stronger at it.. they are essentially a squat without the upper body nuisance.. lot of the power lifters arent big fans but for leg size they are excellent

I would say that they are more of a "power" thing than an exercise you'd want a high volume of.
I put it early in my workout, but not first. I do squats first. I don't find it to be as good as any type of squat, really, and not better than any form of deadlift either (SLDL or RDLs)

...and they also reduce the involvement of the glutes.

Hi there!
I know you will receive all kinds of opinions on this very good question, and of course I have mine. You can get very good gains using the leg press in place of squats, and I prefer it to all of them because heavy squats can be very hard on the spine (something I have to protect because of past injuries). I would suggest doing leg press for your front and back squats, and then think about using hack squats to build your vastus lateralis. Dead lifts are killer for your ham sweep, as are curls. I hope this helps!

I agree, and I use them as my major leg builder because of past spinal injuries as well. Also, if you put your feet towards the top of the platform, they involve the hamstring a log more.
