Why is Johnny Nitro the ECW champ?

Of all the people to make the ECW champion why nitro he sucks. they could have gave it to cm punk I would even have liked the boogyman but not johnny nitro! Also in the draft why didn't ecw get a top superstar?

Because Benoit was suppose to wrestle for the championship, and probably win it, at Vengance but he never showed. So they put Nitro in last minute. I guess they didn't want to give Punk the title.

They feel CM Punk would do better chasing the title then winning it. Personally, I want to see him win it, and become a heel. He was awesome in ROH as a heel.

I think Punk's gunna win it at GAB.

Theyll kind of build Nitro up and have him win a few matches...then drop the title hopfully sooner than later.

there is more money to be made with CM Punk chasing Nitro for the belt than the other way around

- I was explaining to some people -

Nitro is the opposite of what has been the image of the ECW Champion.
Metro-Sexual fur wearing pretty boy, pony boy type, muscular fighter.

So compare him to other ECW Champions & you may see another reason besides what other people already think.

Now, most agree, Benoit was supposed to win the PPV & the ECW Championship but, what happened has happened & no one will ever know for sure if the WWE was about to make Benoit Champion because he never did become champion.

i just think the boogeyman could be a great heel if used right. kind of like kane back in the day but not quite as cool/good

What is peoples problem with Nitro? He pulls off some much more entertaining matches than guys like Kane, Matt Hardy, John Cena etc.
He has some great, innovative moves. Great cocky attitude for a heel... I don't see the problem??

i am with you. he's a future HBK. and before any of you say "never!". dig up HBK's old tapes from back in the AWA days when he and Jannetty were Rock n Roll Express wannabes and tell me if you ever thought he was gonna be where is today.

Second, those are PERFECT qualities for an ECW HEEL champion.

I'm not totally hating the Nitro / Punk feud, it's got potential.

Though I wish they would let Punk have some promo time, because the guy's got mad mic skills.

LOL @ The Boogeyman being ECW champ. That's one of the worst ideas I've ever heard. It's a little early for Nitro, but he has a good look, solid in-ring skills, and tons of potential. He's far better right now than the Boogeyman will ever be.

Aside from the somewhat weak finish last night, I enjoyed the Nitro vs. Tommy Dreamer match. Punk vs. Stevie Richards was easily the best match though.

I don't watch ECW at all (I only watch Raw and Smackdown) but reviewing the ECW current stars, to me, Nitro is the best man to be the champ. CM Punk can be a good champ, but right now is Nitro that have to be the man there!

and that is another problem with wwe now. they need guys to carry them who play themselves or normal characters. back in the day, you had guys like yokozuna, kane, and undertaker carrying the loads and all the things that came out of their mouths were creepy. the boogeyman would have been great back then

The boogyman as a heel is a good idea if the wwe mold his character after papa shongo (spelling) I could see him being more likely to wear a championship belt but not his character now. As for nitro he is a good wrestler but he is not hardcore enough and to be the ecw champ thats the first thing U need to be!

What blows my mind is that I've NEVER seen Nitro land that move off the top rope, he always misses it, but they let him do it off the barricade. Seems like almost no one is allowed to do top-rope moves to a laying opponent in WWE. Only Chavo Guerrero is allowed to do top rope moves (the Frog Splash) that way on a consistent basis and that's because his uncle hugely popularized the move. Benoit, of course, did the swan dive head butt off the top but those are exceptions and not the rule.

they should really change the name of ECW to something else...it is clearly not ECW
