I'm looking for a different type of program - to become more agile?

Hi Gang,

As most guys that walk into a gym want bulk and size (hulks) i'm looking for something different.

If anyone out there can give me a lead or a quick tip, it would be greatly appreciated.

I've done many programs in the past including the "get big" types of programs, good news i've gone from 120 pounds to 202 in the last few years.

The problem is, i'm at the point where I could continue and become a slow-moving mass of muscle or I could change a few things and be something a bit more interesting. My goal is to become acrobatically fit.

What does that mean? Ever seen a street running? Climb on trees, leap over walls, "walk" on walls?

Besides being born with such a talent, does anyone have any quick tips or ideas on a program that will give me enough strength to be physically capable (without necessarily being coordinated) to perform such feats?

I can do 8 chin ups (I am 200 pnds), I'd like to be fit enough to do 20 with two hands and perhaps 1-3 with one hand.

Maybe i'm delusional but before i abandon i'll try.

Karell

Thx

If you are interested in performing only SPECIFIC feats, practice those feats.

If you are trying to improve your overall functional ability/athleticism, look into GPP, plyometrics, and strongman... in that order.

PRetty much get a real low bf% level, mostly from running as opposed to diet This will increase your speed, endurance, and jumping ability. And if u lose a few lbs its easier to do pull ups.

Uh, straight up running is NOT how you become more athletic/agile/mobile.

I'm not even gonna touch on what you say about getting lean from the running "as opposed" to diet.

Look onto stretching type of exercises that build your flexibility. And as someone already mentioned, "plyometrics". Use explosiveness in your reps with very little time between eccentric to concentric contraction of the muscle.

Few of the good body-weight exercises also add more flexibility to you. Ohh, and "yoga" is cool too.

Casual kick boxing, will give you agility. It will increase your speed, flexibility and coordination and power to weight ratio. Gymnastics will is probably better for street running and the whole one arm chin up thing.
