I have already written an Ironmaster review so I figured I would post about my other piece of home equipment.
The Powertec Workbench Leverage System "WB-LS" for short I guess.
For background - Age 26 Male 5' 9" lifting off and on for 10 years.
Reason for Purchase:
I purchased this unit back in October when I finally broke down and decided to get a home gym. I wanted a smaller sized unit that would allow me to work without a spotter for benching and Squats.
Overall:
I am pleased with this unit, much like the other equipement I have... the most important thing is that I USE IT! This does not gather dust in my basement. Its not a gimmick home gym at all. It acts just like the machines at the gym where you load on plates.
The frame is very solid and sturdy. Only minor cases where in my eyes some areas dont look level. However, I took a bullet level to every component and it is in fact level.
I got mine in the powder coated red color, the powder coating is very durable and it looks brand new even after months of constant use. Anyone who comes to my basement says "Wow wtf is that thing!" I love it.
The exercises
I can do just about everything I need, bench -incline, flat, decline , lats, low rows, squats, leg lifts, leg curls, calf raises, sit ups, bicepts, tricepts, shoulders... it can go forever.
You name it, if you can think of it, it can probably be done. I find new exercises to do every couple of weeks.
I know some people think well a lever arm isnt as good as a free weights. Well, they are right. Thats why I have dumbbells. I like the lever arm because I dont need a spotter. Thats why I bought it. Its also nice for squats since it takes a lot of strain off my back.
All the motions are very smooth and easy. I will say the range of motion on the lats is shorter than i like, but you have to sit closer to make it work... no big deal.
Would I buy it again? Was it worth it?
Honestly I am torn on this one. I would personally get a power cage instead. However, I always feel good after I use this machine. The feeling I worked hard. So it does its job and thats whats important.
I'd give it a 7.5 to 8 out of 10. Worth it for sure for beginners to intermediate. If your advanced or think you will be, get a power cage.
Only major drawback----- If your big or tall the bench area can be awkward. My "little" brother who is every bit of 6'2" and big framed seemed to be uncomfortable on the bench when he tried it.
