Mrs Muscles, what was the UltraMarathon Man about? I'll pick that one up, especially if you thought it was better...
Ooh and comedy, that is something that I really enjoy. Has anyone read Lysistrata? It's a play by Aristophanes, the roman women revolt against the men, it's really cute.

Ultramarathon Man is Dean Karnazes autobiography kinda. It focuses on his love of running, how he formed it, and his quest to see how far he can push his body. He's run 300 miles without stopping, competed in the Western States 100, and Badwater ultramarathons. I probably really enjoyed it because I'm a runner, but it is an easy fast read.

If you want to think a bit, Ayn Rand is fabulous. I really enjoyed Atlas Shrugged (which is about to become a movie starring Angelina Jolie...read the book before you get spoon-fed POV...LOL). Some of the ideas she presents are interesting enough that I would read paragraphs over again to let them sink in...Make sure you have time for her, though. One year it took me 3 tries to get through that book b/c I was in school and had to keep taking breaks that were long enough that I'd have to start over again. LOL
I also like re-reading books that I read as a kid...it's funny how things take on new meaning once you're an adult. Chronicals of Narnia is a good example for me. I read that series when I was 10, so reading it again in my late 20's was a trip.
Maybe it's time to reacquaint yourself with Harry Potter, too, with the last book coming up and all.

Ooh! I absolutely love Ayn Rand, she is my favorite author ever! I own every book she has written and a few essays.....
As for re-reading childhood favorites, I do that too. It is funny how your favorite books take on so many different angles/meanings at different stages in your life.

So many good choices!
I like period/war books too. I don't know if anyone has heard of Stolen Years, Sara Zyskind. It is about Ww2 and the holocaust as well, pretty good. (sixzebra, you're not alone )
Love the Harry Potter series, and movies. Although imo the goblet of fire kinda came up short...
Kalagan, I love that book too.
Rev, please do review that book for us...

Man, Man, Woman work for the UN. First in Cambodia, then Somalia, Boznia Herzovenia, Haiti. In Somalia, woman nearly gets killed and has "Emergency Sex" with a local goat farmer or something like that to get rid of all that pesky I-nearly-got-killed adrenaline.
Mid way through the book the UN missions, things really go pear shaped.
UN was embarrassed by this book. Quite enlightening and an entertaining read, what with all the emergency sex.

I just finished "How I Paid for College: A Story of Sex, theft, Friendship and Musical Theatre" which was very funny. Or "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance". I haven't read it yet but it came highly recommended to me and I'm about to start...

We could only hope. That dude's a little ass...Maybe his dad will die. That would be even cooler!
I've decided to go with the theory that Harry's scar is what allows Voldemort to continue existing and that Harry must make the ultimate sacrifice...
Gah! This is even worse than when you are watching the season's last episode of a TV show and they pull that "to be continued" crap and you have to wait until the next season.
Won't it be funny if there's all this speculation and we end up with a simple happy ending...with Voldemort being the only one who is destroyed?

Get "Possible Side Effects" from Augusten Burroughs. It's a bunch of little short, entertaining essays so you don't have to start all over again if you have to put it down for a while. If you had time you could finish it in a night, but if not it's good to get you settled into bed when your exhausted but can't sleep.
I read that you like reading war/military books. Do you read military fiction? Have you read anything from W.E.B. Griffin? I read a book a while back (years ago...LOL) called 1812 (inspired by that waar, of course, and you'll recognize the characters) that I really liked, too. But I can't remember who wrote it at the moment...

I havent read that much of it to be honest I just find it very interesting and watch a lot of military programs, both historical and fictional.
I'll have to look up 1812 i'm sure i'll be able to find it somewhere.
I actually read a lot more fantasy fiction when i was younger its only been in the last 5-10 years i've become really interested in military history/tactics.
thanks for the suggestions!
