Which pro BB'ers have you met, and what was your impression?
I've heard a lot about how Reg Park was a real gentleman of the sport. Arnold too. I've created this thread because I am interested in hearing what pro bodybuilders you have met (autographs, whatever) and what your impression was.
As a general rule it seems the pro's are quite open towards their fans since less money is involved - also making for a greater dependency of the fans.
I haven't met any myself, but meeting Arnold would be pretty cool

When I was a little girl I went to a car show in Washington DC (this was in 1979 or 1980) and Lou Ferrigno was there at a booth signing autographs and taking pictures. I was so star struck that when it was my turn to walk up to him I just froze. I couldn't move. My mother tried to push me forward but I couldn't move so he got up, walked towards me and lifted me up off the ground with a big smile on his face. He was so huge!
I saw him again 2 years ago here in Atlanta at the famous DragonCon and like old habits.........I froze but I snapped out of it and gave him a hug. I told him how much I loved him when I was young.
Very down to earth guy and my first BodyBuilder crush.

i've met a lot of IFBB figure girls...but for IFBB bodybuilders, I'd have to say that Jimmy Canyon was the coolest. Lee Priest was cool as ****, too but I honestly didn't interact with him much.

Interesting. I met Kevin Levrone and he seemed like a jerk. When I asked for a picture with him, he said ok but like he didn't really wanna be there. I know he was on his way to an interview at the bb.com booth, but still...his hand-shake was limp(I associate that with being a jerk) and he didn't smile for the picture. In fact he seemed quite upset. I figured maybe he had a rough day, but I remember some guy on the forum saying that he walks around at the Arnold every year acting like he owns the place. I'll still give him the benefit of the doubt but he kind of ruffled my feathers, to put it nicely.
Everyone else I'm met was very nice.
*Ronnie Coleman - nice
*Dexter Jackson - really down to earth and grateful for my compliments
*Lee Labrada - people person, plus he's from Texas like me
*Lou Ferrigno - despite the stories from others who say he's a jerk, he was very nice to me and my dad when we went to go see him and he was nice to everyone else there too, so I really don't see what folks are talkin about
*Dorian - nice
*Nasser - nice, but was surprised by his shy demeanor, lol
*Lee Priest - really cool and very happy to take a pic with me

Shawn Ray - I worked out in the same gym in Fullerton/Placentia It was a Gold's Gym but no is a Powerhouse owned by Milos) ... I even spotted him a couple of times. I thought he was really nice. This was in 1990-91.
Dorian Yates - Great guy!
I met several others but I cannot remember, haha I'm gettin' old. This was in 1990-91.
At this particular Gold's Gym a bodybuilding cable show was filmed. A bunch of pros would come and workout. I saw Flex working triceps and others, I just can't remember, HA!

This goes to show that pro bodybuilders are humans just like the rest of us. So many people say that Lou is a complete jerk...but that doesn't mean he was a complete jerk all of the time. Everyone has their good and bad days.
When I met Ronnie, he was a complete jerk to me. But so many other people say he is so cool. I believe he is. For some reason, he didn't show that to me. So what.
I met Lou and talked to him some, and he was nice enough. He didn't smile and try to make me feel like his best friend, but I certainly didn't expect that. I asked him a question, and he answered. Didn't expect more than that.

I have never met any pros.
However, the only thing that seems constant throughout everyone's stories is that it really depends on what day you talk to these guys on.

oh yeah, forgot to mention Phil Heaht.
He was really nice and down to earth. He was surprised to find that somebody actually knew who he was and all. Pretty cool. I got to take a pic with him.

Mike Mattarazzo: Really down to earth guy. Like one of the guys from your gym. Remembered me the next time I saw him at the ASC.
Roland Kickinger: Really approachable and happy guy.
(They were both running the BATTLE OF THE BICEPS at the ASC when I competed in that.)
Lenda Murray: Really nice, approachable and absolutely gorgeous lady inperson!
Lee Haney: Besides being a legend as well, really balanced guy and humble.
Cynthia James: TOTALLY AWESOME lady. Good hearted friend, strong and very real.
(she made my custom arm sleeves when I did pro armwrestling.)
Beth Horn: a sweetheart.
Gunter : Very quiet. Stayed for EVERYBODY who wanted to take a pic with him or an autograph and the crowd was HUGE.
Lou Ferrigno: One of my favourites. But so many people at the booth impossible really to stop and chat.
Dexter Jackson: Cool guy always had time to talk to the fans.

Mark Dugdale - Talked to him for a while at a local NPC show and was a hell of a great guy. Both him an his wife were awesome. Great guy all around, he's a real role model.
Bob Chicherillo - Very out going and seemed really happy when interacting with the fans. Talked to him for a while and he really had some good advice to give.
Victor Martinez - Very shy individual. Didn't have much to say, and was a very humble person. At his booth he seemed like he really didnt want to be there at first, but it prolly had something to do with him being tired due to missing his flight and having to drive from Seattle down to Vancouver, Wa in the same afternoon to the the guest pose. Great guest poser too.
