Supplements for skinny HARD-gainers????

I am 165 pounds, about 6 foot tall. I have been supplementing with NO-Xplode, NanoX9, Creatine, Whey Protein, and some flax oil. I desperately need some advice on the supplements I need to gain HUGE amounts of mass and weight. I lift SO hard for around an hour and a half every day of the week. I split up my workouts by body part. If you have any supplementing tips or advice for a hard gainer such as me, they would be greatly appreciated. Please help, I am in a rut and to work so hard with little results is a huge downer. Happy lifting!

Repped. I think everyone starts out that way. They hear about all these wonder supplements and think that this is the way to get big. I know I definitely was like that for a time simply because I didn't know what it was like to eat enough to gain weight and I thought supplements were the key. Eventually you wise up and realize food is everything. Save your money and just focus on food, period. Then you can spend your money on "supplements" that are proven to work if you decide to go down that path some years down the road.

Edit: Apparently I can't rep you again for a bit Diesel. lol

i'm sure its that you need to eat more, and not the supplements... all I would recommend you would be creatine and a fast absorbing protein for pwo of your choice and possibly a weight gainer if you find it very hard to get in the calories (active schedule). The others are really here or there if you have some cash to burn. It's obvious you jumped in quick not being able to gain w/o supplements, should have fixed your diet first and learn to gain w/o supplements, then let some supplements get you over that plateau you'll hit after about 6 months solid training and gains which you aren't really close to. Anyway it is nothing to worry about, lots of people including myself, hell most people on the board have tried all this stuff to give it a shot, but when it comes down to it there are only a few things which really add on muscle, the rest are kina rogue supplements and surely have some benefit but you won't see very noticeable muscle gains through them. Anyway you look to be in good shape even if you aren't bulky, so I would really concentrate on getting those quality calories in as you don't look like the type who has to worry to much about fat gain.

One thing to mention is if you are lifting heavy 7 days a week every week you need to have some rest time. Your body needs time to rest and recuperate. Personally I think that will help some and let your muscles grow.

You need at least 3400 calories a day at your weight and should be training no more than 4-5 times a week. With that said, the following will help you:

Creatine
Malto based weight gainers (I recommend these to ectos)

Some good choices are the following:

Prolab Nlarge
Cytogainer

Prolab Creapure
Universal Storm

Stop grossly OVERTRAINING

lift 3 days per week, or less.

mon-chest, tri's, delts

wed-lat's, bi's, abs

Fri-legs and lower back

2-6 sets per bodypart

And stop wasting money on nutritionally vapid "weight gainers". Just drink F'ing whole milk, eat 12-36 WHOLE eggs per day, some chicken drumsticks and thighs, plenty of butter on your potatoes and yams, and HANDFULLS of peanuts and almonds. Also, fry your brown rice in butter on pan after your cook it.

If you switch from a 7 day to a 3 day, you can expect 15-30lbs in 6-12 months.

Just wondering but can't you really screw up your cholesterol by eating that many eggs.

No, because cholesterol is dictated by your genetics, conditioning level, and your saturated fat intake. Eggs are low in saturated fat. If you eat a low cholesterol diet, your body will produce endogenous cholesterol to make up the difference: the immune system and hormonal systems are not happy to be doing this. Cholesterol is a testosterone precursor, and is VITAL to immune system health. Many studies show eggs as LOWERING bad cholesterol levels (see below site).

There's good eggs + cholesterol level info at www.whfoods.com (search)

I am a hard gainer. I lost 3 pounds the other day just by doing yard work.

I can't eat a lot at one setting and stuffing myself only makes me feel sick.
What is a lot to me is nothing to some people, I wish those people could understand that.

I lift 4 or 5 days a week depending on yard work and pool, and I don't do cardio.
I eat as much as I can, and I add a weight gainer from time to time, usually first thing in the morning, and again before bed.

Creatine alone does nothing for me so I always use a creatine/NO2 supplement and some type of test booster.
The weight gainer will of course put on some fat, but as a hard gainer who cares, you'll burn it off without even trying, or when you're ready for cardio.

At work I take protein shakes instead of weight gainer because the weight gainers are usually harder to mix and cleaning a shaker bottle at work takes too much time.

I've been trying to reach 200 pounds for years, the closest I've come is 189 and couldn't get higher to save my life.

Everyone feels sick after stuffing themselves. It's taken me 3 years to work my way up to a point where I can really eat tons. Every single day I would feel like throwing up after eating and just feeling all around disgusting. Weight gainers really aren't the way to go. It's called pushing yourself through it and dedication. Something most people on here don't understand.

If you eat until you feel sick who feels like working out or doing other things that have to get done?
If you eat until you get sick and throw up, what have you accomplished?

Its more that food isn't as sexy or doesn't appear to be as fast a cure-all as a supplement does.

I restarted my bodybuilding plan last summer, cut down to lose my excess fat, and then maintained my weight while gaining muscle during the school year. Cut down again from mid-March to mid-May to get pretty cut, to see if I could. Wound up at 165. Now I'm starting my first true "bulk" period and lemme tell ya, two days in and this whole "eating" thing is amazing. Instead of 2200 ultra-clean calories a day (and one small snack), you mean I can eat 3500+ pretty-clean calories each day? And that cheating on a meal once or twice a week, while certainly not great, actually isn't all that bad? I LOVE it.

For the life of me I cannot understand why people complain about having to eat so much.

You're not going to throw up if you're doing it right. You have to constantly push yourself to the limit and then try to go further. It's the only way. It took me a couple years of experimenting and constant effort to get to a point where I felt like I had a real grasp of nutrition and calorie consumption. You get used to it eventually and it becomes a routine. Also, most people don't keep their food simple. In other words, they feel they have to eat full fledged meals with flavoring and everything else. I find it much harder to eat a normal meal than to eat a cup of oatmeal and a big banana and then add in a protein.

You are assuming that everyone is like you.
You can't tell me how my body will react to stuffing myself, you can't tell me how much I can eat.

I work two jobs from 12-6 and 6:30- 10:00 pm. I do not have time to eat grossly large amounts of food that you need to. I have heard this all before. I will change my workout routine to three days a week, but I need a good supplement to help with what I can't get in my diet. Thanks though for the reply.

If you can't eat enough... you won't gain weight. Thats all there is too it. The only thing I can recommend is a good meal replacement shake. Heres a recipe I and a few others use for a homemade one:

2c milk
2 scoops whey
1/2c ground oats
1 bannana
1 1/2Tbsp natural peanut butter

Throw that all in the blender and make 2 or 3 times a day when u dont have time for a propper meal. Shold help add in calories

I used to work a job from 7am to 6pm and what I did was bring a lunch box and a ~2 liter thermos with me. In the lunch box, I had two tuna sandwiches, a banana, and some almonds. In the thermos, a sort of "mega mix" shake.

1 liter whole milk
3 scoops protein powder
1.5 cups ground oatmeal
4 tbsp peanut butter

Any room left in the thermos was topped off with more whole milk.

The sandwiches, almonds, and banana were eaten at lunch time. The concoction in the thermos was sipped on every hour or so. Lunch had about 800 calories in it, and that monster of viscosity had something like 100g of protein, 185g carbohydrates, and 70g of fat (~1800 Calories). Wolf down 1000 calories at breakfast and another 1000 for dinner, after work or whatever, and that's something like 4600 calories. Now, imagine if you made that bad-ass mix with a carton of whole chocolate milk instead, or used weight gainer instead of protein powder?

Obviously, it's easier said than done, so ultimately it'll come down to how much you want it. If it's that important to you, you'll make the necessary changes. If not, don't sweat it.
