Reading this thread convinced me to give Yerba a try. I ordered it last Wednesday night from yerbamatecafe.biz, got a shipping notice on Thursday and recieved it Friday, amazingly fast. I have been drinking it every day in the mornings at work except Sunday and I have indeed noticed a slight boost in energy from it which is nice. The most noticable effect I've gotten so far is the appetite suppresant. Normally I am hungry by lunch and I almost forget to eat after a couple of mates. Pretty amazing stuff, even if that's the only benefit I get from it. I prepare it cold in the little sports type bottle they sell for $4 bucks. I also add a tiny bit of splenda to it and it gives it a much more tollerable flavor imo. I do have one question though, does Yerba contain any calories? I ordered 4 sample packs and got 1 free, however they come in clear plastic bags and have no nutrition information on them. Just want to be sure I don't need to be considering the mates in my daily caloric intake.
Thanks again for the info. It cost me only $16 to get started with Yerba and I could have gotten fewer samples and got started for even less. I encourage everyone to drop a few bucks and see what everyone here is talking about. If you don't like it or find it doesn't work for you, you're out less than the cost of a movie for 2.

I received my order today. 3 days. That was fast. But too bad they don't offer the option to ship Priority US Mail so it would be cheaper.
I like the tumbler cup but not crazy about the plastic bombilla that came with it. I was hoping the stainless steel one would fit in it but it doesn't. I hate plastic things, after a few months or a few uses it always starts to taste like plastic. The straw doesn't even have a cover and you can't take it out and close the cover without having any holes..so it might suck traveling with it in the summer if a bug or dust gets blown in it..or if it accidentally tips in the car or something. I thought it would be like those Dunkin Donut travel things that twist and close completely.
I didn't really like the steel bombilla.. Some tiny leaves ended up getting through and it left a small amount of tea at the bottom mixed with the leaves and it seemed like a waste. Kind of hard to suck up..But maybe I used too much or too small of a cup. Probably would be better to just get one cheap cup or bombilla for first order.
I got the Toffee Cafe Blend sample free.
Smelled good and smelled stronger than it tasted. It was good but it made my heart race and I got that anxiety feeling. I went to the website to see the ingredients and it's probably the stevia in it. I normally don't drink coffee or add sweeteners like that so I'm more sensitive. I kind of felt like I drank a little coffee. Plain yerba doesn't do that to me.
I think I ordered way too much. Guy above spent $16 and I spent almost $50. lol. Looks like way more tea when you open up the package than it does online. It'll last a while though. Plus I've already tried it and know I want to keep drinking it.

It doesn't contain enough calories to worry about. For a more exact answer try the search thread feature at the top and just search for "calories".

I got some Guayaki from the store, $8 for 1/2 lb. I went online and saw I could get more than 2 lbs for $5 and shot myself in the foot! I've been putting about a tablespoon in a tea infuser and dropping it in my Nalgene all day, just refilling the water when it got down to about 1/4 full. I need to find a bombilla somewhere so I can not be drinking up all the leaves and stems that slip out of the infuser, and so I can put more yerba in the water. I live in southern California... there's got to be some store I can go to and buy one! We have everything!

Yeah but good luck trying to find what kind of store it would be in. lol. Um probably some special Argentina shop...
Try Ebay maybe.
I wonder how the glass bombilla is. But I'm not spending $20 on one especially when I already have 2 now. Seems like it would clog easily. And break easily. I'd be afraid to drop it.

Ouch bro... And aside from the ridiculous rip-off price, Guayaki is also just plain crummy yerba. Next time get some of the good traditional stuff -Canarias, Rosamont, Taragui, or any of the good stuff... http://www.yerbamatecafe.biz/?Click=1103

You can get all kinds of bombillas from the yerba mate cafe's accessory page here (No fancy glass ones though! ): http://www.yerbamatecafe.biz/Yerba-M...htm&Click=1103
I recommend that you get a stainless steel so it doesnt rust, and personally prefer a curved bombilla (they are more user friendly IMO).
Here is one I like
Found here: http://www.yerbamatecafe.biz/La-Mula...htm&Click=1103
If you just want to go for something cheap that works, then pick up an ultimate bombilla, which will do the job fine as well. I still like the metal ones better, but the UB are nice to have around for use in a coffee cup or really whatever you want.
Foundn Here: http://www.yerbamatecafe.biz/Ultimat...htm&Click=1103

Because of this thread I ordered some from yerbamatecafe. I love the stuff, the energy is great, with coffee I would always crash 2-3 hours after drinking. The energy with yerba mate is great. My wife also loved it and asked that I do a second order just so she could get her bombilla and some samples of her own. So now i think we have upwards of 16 samples to choose from. Its been fun just figuring out which ones taste the best.
Thanks Guys

I ordered mine and have been taking it for about two weeks now. I'm not tired during the morning like I was before, and my appetite has definately been suppressed. I'm eating no more than 1500 calories a day and never feel hungry. I'm trying to boost this up though so don't yell at me. It took me about one day to get over the taste. Now I don't mind it at all. I'm still working on the first bag I opened and won't try the others until this one is out. I ordered from yerba mate cafe and got my stuff quick. Overall I rate this stuff 9/10 just because of the taste.

How many of you reuse the tea by just adding hot water again? I tried it twice and doesn't seem to give as strong of an effect..
Also, I'm using 2tbsp per 16oz of water..or whatever the tumber holds..sound good?

I've been refilling a 32oz water bottle all day long. I used about 2 Tbsp of yerba. The first fill is with hot water and sits overnight in the fridge so it's cold and strong by morning. Every time I drink it down to about half empty, I fill it back to the top with cold water. It gets progressively weaker in taste and I'm assuming effects, but I'm not trying to stay up all night!

Unless those are all teabags, you're going to regret not getting a bombilla cause it's loose tea. You'll have to find a way to strain the leaves so you can drink it. I was using a regular mesh strainer which was a pain in the ass. The bombilla is a straw with a mesh screen at the end that filters it out. (see pic above) Or just get one of those tumbler or sport bottles that come with it.

i ordered some and got it last week. It's strange, it doesn't taste good, but at the same time I can't stop drinking it. I used to drink a lot of green tea and i like yerba mate a lot better so far.

I got one with a mint flavour with it...in all honesty it wasn't bad, but it gave me stomach cramps.
Toffee sampler one is good tho, but not sure i'll be going back to that mint one...

I gave up on Yerba Mate. I can't handle the taste.
I've switched to Coca Mate! Tastes better, can use regular tea bags for a strong enough drink, and gives you a minute amount of cocaine for energy!

ok guys,
update on this tea, i was weighting at 220 during Jan/07. This morning i weight in as 184. Eating right, working out and this energy tea made it happen. I'm so happy right now. By the way i'm only 5'9 so at 220 it was pretty bad. Anyways try this stuff out guys. Good stuff.

So i orderedmy 20 dollar sampler pack from yerbacafe and got the free tumbler and the bombilla, and have been drinking for 2 days now.
it tastes just like tea. Just gotta watch how strong u make it , it can be intolerable lol.
but as for the feeling any different, eh well my moods and such always change for one reason ro another so I can't say, but I don;t doubt the health benefits so I'll be drinking it a lot.

I've tried everything with this Yerba Mate, am I doing something wrong?
Before you say it Citadel, I read the whole thread. I bought the right stuff, I even tried the Toffee flavor they sent as a freebie. I used the sports bottle, other water bottles, this special thing for loose tea that my mom has... I poured water over the special filter straw after putting the loose Yerba in, and I made sure it was not boiling but close. I tried other temperatures. I tried different amounts of Yerba, different amounts of water, mixing loose teas of other kinds...
But I'm not getting anything. It's not working. Am I doing something wrong?
And while I'm at it, do you have any other advice for fast weight loss? I just need something to help as a jump start. I was running 40 miles a week, doing ab/core workouts, and eating around 1400 calories a day, but not losing a pound, and now I injured myself and can't run (or do much of anything) at all and I'm freaking out. Any advice? I'm literally hysterical.
