Dude, age and weight has nothing to do with it. 100 reps at some ****ty weight will only give very minimal muscle gains and is more likely to burn fat.
A weight you can manage 8-25 will give you the best gains.
And no, I'm not talking from some ****ty information, i'm talking from experience.

doing higher reps=endurance
doing lower reps=strengh
Doing mid range reps (8-12) for a mixture of mass/strengh
Doing 100 reps of light weight DOES NOT get you toned....lower B/F would...i can do a million reps, but if my B/F is 20%, there is no way i would look toned...this is why seeing abs is so difficult because it is all about B/F, not how many situps you do....Definition and tone are simply the result by body fat levels changing.....Sure, it may burn more B/F because of the amount you are doing, but by no means will it "tone" a muscle.....Muscles can either grow or shrink, body fat can increase, stay the same, or decrease. THESE are the only methods in which the body can change
You want to get tone?? Do heavy compound lifts, then do lighter ISO exercises in the 15-20 range MAX and then do cardio 3/4 times a week and get your diet in check
And i cant stand hearing people say "you're 140LBS so you do not know what you are talking about"...weight does not equal knowledge on the subject..i see people in the gym that weigh 250LBS, and their form is terrible and they give ****ty advice..

100 reps will not get you bigger. Strength is 3-5 reps. Mass is 8-12 reps. 10-12 works best IMO. 100 reps burns fat and makes you toned.

I'm really new to this stuff but from my personal experience 8-12 was what gave me the little bit of mass I've gained and 15-25 just got me a little more toned.
Not trying to set what is right and wrong just saying what worked for me ..

yeah, well I was talking to my dad about reps etc. and how different amount of reps are important and I told him I'd just done 3x5 squats on rippetoes, and my mum butts in and goes even I know 5 reps does nothing! (she's usually right about everything) my dad just looked at her and shook his head lol.

4-6 reps at a high weight ( struggling with 6th rep) = More muscle size, but less endurance
10-15 reps at a lower weight = More endurance, and harder leaner muscles

100 reps wastes energy and will not burn fat on your arms.
