Question I can't stop eating! Critique my workout too plz.

I'm 19 yrs old, 5'3" and about 111 lbs. I'm a recovering anorexic and wanna lose about 10 lbs and tone up to feel better about my new weight gain. But now I can't stop eating. I've had almost 10 Luna bars today. I eat a little over 2,000 cals a day and i'm not used to it and I freak out. I work out at 24 Hour everyday. 30-45 mins of cardio each day with about 30 mins of weight lifting after. How can I stop eating so much? Any diet suggestions? Should I eat only protein? What else should I do to lose weight? Any exercises? I'm a total noob, so bear with me lol.

hey girl..

No worrys.. U'll do just fine... i would say, stay under 2000.. Just stick to 3 good meals a day and in between, Eat your protein bars or shakes... I say eat oatmeal and 2-3 boiled eggs with out the yolk in the A.M. TunaFish on wheat and a fruit for lunch.. And some brown rice and chicken for dinner.. Any Thing with Chicken/Tuna/Beef (Proteins) for dinner... When you work out.. Do the Cardio after the lift'n.. Do a little warm-up cardio in beginning, i mean like 5 min.. Lift real heavy, don't be afraid, it has to hurt , then do the cardio after... 30min.. Your body is depleted of energy and if you do the cardio then, Your body taps into its extra energy reserve which is the FAT and thats when you'll begin to burn that.. You want that fresh energy in the begining for the Weights.. Stay away from IceCream and all that sugar and fat stuff that YOU KNOW is not good.. Lets talk more..

i was exactly the same, 110lbs at 5ft 6, after extreme non-stop diet and cardio. the doctor said i would be anorexic if i lost another pound. Sometimes i go crazy eating way too much food and stuff. Just try and train hard. You can look at my cutting pics, Im up to about 138lbs. I was 'bulking' and training hard since SEP 06. i try and occupy myself with other things, like being on this forum takes my mind away from food and its something to do. At your height i would try not to exceed 2000cals even when working. Try to aim for around 1600kcals-1800kclas if you want to get rid of fat. If oyu want to build muscle have around 2000-2300kcals.

Try this calculator to get a rough idea of daily calorie etc.

I recommend having a set plan for your food, even if you make it just one day in advance. Either eat 6 mini-meals, or 3 larger meals with 2 snacks in between. I bet you know enough nutrition wise as to what is healthy and what is not.. I sure was a walking nutrition textbook before I tried to recover (I am also a recovering anorexic/bulimic). Try to figure out what is causing your excessive eating.. are you actually hungry? or are you using food in response to your emotions? I often find when I eat mindlessly it is because I am tired or bored. Also, remember the HALT acronym.. are you Hungry, Angry, Lonely, or Tired? Those are the most frequent feelings which cause people to overeat.

Good luck and if you ever need support PM me.

I don't think 101lbs is something to aspire to, especially if you say you want to tone up. Toning up just means putting on added muscle (which means adding weight). I would not suggest lowering your actual body weight, but IMO it's healthy and feasible to replace some of your body fat with muscle without the scale going up too much.

I find that when I've dropped below a certain body fat percentage or weight (for me, around 18% BF or 120lbs) my body reacts with increased hunger and a total mental preoccupation with food because it thinks it's "starving." I'm not sure how long you've been in recovery from your ED, but if you've recently lost a lot of weight and have started eating again, it's possible that your body is trying to get back to a comfortable weight.

That being said, snacking on relatively carb heavier foods like Luna Bars can actually leave you feeling hungrier. Protein and healthy fats generally leave you feeling sated faster, and on less food. Try some nuts, beans, or a protein shake instead. If I drink one of these, I never want a second one right after. Also, as mentioned previously, planning your meals ahead of time can help to provide a structure for your diet that you might not have now, and may help you to stay away from binges.

The other women have given you some great advice! The one thing I wanted to point out (which I didn't notice in the other posts) is that food like Luna Bars will stimulate hunger more than control it. There are worse things to eat, but so many better things! Start by eating REAL food - try to keep away from meal replacement anythings for a while. I eat 5-6 times a day when I have done my planning, and I am almost NEVER truly that hungry. However, if I forget my lunch or don't pack one, and delve into my snack drawer, I just can't stop eating. You can do it!

Anandagirl is right - bars like that will just keep you eating. I haven't had any Luna bars but I'm guessing there's probably some sugar in it. Personally, once I start eating sugary stuff I just want more and more. I could easily eat a box of all bran bars or oatmeal-to-go bars in one sitting.

Also, unless I misunderstood your post, you're working out 7 days a week for more than an hour - that's a lot! No wonder you're eating a lot! Your body needs time to rest and if you're lifting heavy enough, your body will BEG for rest. You should take at least a day off every week. Also, there's no need to do that much cardio. I'm not sure what to recommend exactly, but something like 4 days of weights and 3 days of cardio should be sufficient - maybe some of the other ladies can give you a better idea of how much will get you where you want to go.

Talking You guys are great!

Thank you so much! The nutrition tips are really helpful. Ya, I am also a walking nutrition facts encyclopedia. I just don't know how to use the info in a healthy way because I'm so used to just starving myself. But now I want to be healthy and change my body. I never want to know my actual weight and will never weigh myself again, so I just wanna change what my body looks like. I want to be leaner and more toned and still look thin and small. Thank you for all your advice!
