What to do What to do

Hey im kinda new to all the bb.com forum stuff.. but my question is what is the best method of working out when cutting up for a show... I have heard it both ways stay with heavy weight and keep your 8-10 rep range and low weight 15-20 rep range then sets of failure.... Could someone please help out and tell me what has worked best for them recently? I am preparing for a show on Aug. 18 I will be in Teen Div. and this will be my first one ever so I am kinda new at everything my diet is in check and working really well and I have a 20 year vet as a training partner I just know some ppl tend to dissagree with the low weight and high reps just wondering why ? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

training

When training for a show, it is my opinion to continue to lift as heavy as possible for 8-10 reps. You will undoubtedly lose strength as your diet continues, but thats natural. Keep the weight up and the intensity up....don't compromise.

This is true you have to keep the sameamount of stress on the muscle inorder to keep its size. Your training weights wise should not differ all that much untill you geta couple weeks out.

Mass impresses people but conditioning wins competitions.

The difference between me and you is im willing to push it till it breaks and you only push it till it aches.

Meal after meal. Rep after rep. All the while tired and stuffed. Why do i do this? So that one day i can look in the mirror and see something satisfying and complete. All the while knowing i will never be satisfied nor complete.

I just recently asked the same question. I was not lifting as heavy as I was and was doing more reps. I'm a true believer now that you should lift heavy even in contest prep to help hang on to that muscle that you've worked so hard for. Who knows maybe you'll even build a bit!?!

I personally have tried all sorts but the past few years i've found myself better working in the 6-8 rep range 60 sec rest between sets. i've come fuller and harder on stage. i only change the last days before the comp when carb depleting : I do upper body workout in the 15 rep range the last 3 days of training : usually mon, tues wed if show is sat( I don't do hiugh reps for leg though). hope it helps
