Cannot control my eating
I need to lose fat but I cannot control myself from eating, I eat mostly healthy foods but I still can't control myself from eating 4,000 cals. I am male 5.6ft, 200 pounds. Do 60 min of cardio and light lifting I am mostly fat not muscle. HOW IN THE HELL CAN I TWEAK MY WILL POWER???? everytime I try I end up eating more.

Food = fuel...thats all
Why do you need willpower, you are doing something you want to do...don't doing it with a feeling of deprivation, do it with a proud happy feeling that you have made a positive change in your life and as time goes on you will reap the benifits...its the feeling of deprivation that makes it hard, and you create that feeling yourself in your head.

Maybe you're getting too many simple carbs and/or sugar? That could be making you hungrier than you should be. Or maybe you're only eating 3 meals a day instead of 6?
I'd post your diet in detail here. Then you'll get some good responses I think. Post exactly what you eat, and how many meals you eat in a day.
Also, I think most people here would tell you to lift heavy, not light.

You have to really want it. At this point you value the food more than losing weight. Try to slowly cut your calories from 4000 to your target amount. (Not too slow though) This may help you adjust.

EXACTLY!!!! ^^^^^.
Until I was tired of being sick & tired of how I looked and felt, is when I finally got off my fat butt and started my transformation. Until YOU really want it, you won't do it. I am not being pessimistic, just realistic from having been there before...many times.

First you have to identify the problem of why. Not the because I'm hungry why, but why are you hungry. So what type of foods do you eat and how often a day do you eat? You can do it, but it's not going to be easy.

You need to use will-power. You need to be able to stop yourself from giving into temptations. I know you say you are eating too much food, but at the same time remove all higher calorie foods from easy accessability - or get someone else to hide them.

Are you eating because you're hungry, or because you want to?
If the former, then tweak the diet so that does not happen.
If the latter, then decide whether you want to be fat or not. Do not dream of being fit -- plan on it. Work out what you are going to eat in a day, and stick to it. And leave yourself no idle time -- the more activity you have, the less time you have to think about eating just for the hell of it.
It's hard. I fight it every day. I try to stay busy so that the only time I think of eating is when my body is clearly telling me it's time.

you either want it or you don't. I went through the same thing when I quit smoking, it took me three times. the first two times, I was trying for other people, I didn't want it. Then my daughter was born and I want to be around when she gets older, so I quit for me and her (extension of me). It was one of the easiest things I ever did at that point. Point is, YOU have to want it.

Bingo, That sums it up. and thats what stoped me for years. Some people think that your diet is the most important part to losing weight but its actually your mental state. You have to really really want this. Your desire to get in shape has to be stronger than your passion for food. Its kind of hard because the gratification we get from food is instant and you actually have to wait to see results from your diet. Try and visualize what you want to look like and keep that thought in your mind. think about it every time you feel like over eating. The satisfaction and rewards I have gottin from losing weight far exceed any gratification I have ever received from food. At your height you dont need that many calories even with an active life style. Start off by knocking at least 1000 calories off your diet. I Try and get it down to around 2000 cals and the weight will come off.

You might have an eating disorder called compulsive overeating/emotional eating, etc. The name varies. I have it. It is quite a struggle. Look into your relationship with food. What do you want it to do for you aside from simply keeping you alive? Is there an emotional connection? This book is very helpful

Besides having the will, I always try to keep myself preoccupied with things I really love to do, and that might not get my mind off the food, but I am too busy to get food.

to loose fat you must burn more calories than your consuming... what are you doing for cardio? its good to wake up and do cardio on an empty stomach then do weights at night... and if you REALLY want it, you'll push yourself to do it... I also find that working out with a friend and dieting with them helps me alot too because then I feel like im in a competition to do better than them and it pushes me ... but that could just be a personal thing... you should try it though! and also read up on some of the forums about nutrition... maybe some supplements too?! Everyone is different and different things work for different people... I also saw a post on here about if your stomach shrinks... and YES it does because it's a muscle... soo therefore if you eat less your stomach will start to shrink and you'll get fuller faster (obviously) so start to wean yourself off of so much food! and eat smaller meals 6 times a day! REMEMBER: Most of workingout/weight lifting is MENTAL! Keep your mind on track and set realistic goals for yourself!

I had a rubber-band around my wrist... every time I wanted to eat something bad for me I would snap that sucker as hard as I could... Kinda a self-monitoring program.
I also had my fraternity brothers hit me if they saw me eating anything besides tunafish and cottage cheese after 9pm.
These are some simple suggestions... cost effecient and effective

Ever try using an appetite suppressant? During my Body for Life Contest I used Tetrazene by Bioquest. After taking it I had no appetite or cravings for cookies and pizza. Willpower is good but if you use it all the time you will go crazy. I was almost crying every night just because I couldn't eat my favorite food. To get to sleep I had to think about my favorite restaurant...you don't want to ever get to this point. Good luck with your training!

i used to have overeating problems to and it was virtually all psychological. If stress, sadness, boredom lead to overeating then you must due other things besides eating to remedy them. I for example when I am supper stressed or sad go for a short walk to calm myself.
