I'd say it's a mix of social conditioning by your upbringing/parents, intellectual laziness and logical fallacies resulting from bad experiences with black people and like JUSA said, people inherentely identify with people who look like them the most. That explains the jocks hanging with other jocks, emos with the emos and such. Same thing for races.


Also there are a great deal of racist white people secretely craving the big big black cock, i'd presume.

We have to go around grouping/stereotyping things all the time. We do it with everything, and not just people. If we had to make an informed decision about everything we encounter everyday from scratch life would be impossible.

People have given some good logic as to the specific of any given stereotype.

Some of the other reasons are valid as well (ignorance, upbringing, etc..), but it is exactly human nature to be leary of anyone who appears to be different from ourselves (studied greatly in psychology). As far as we've come in the U.S., people need to be aware that racism will never be eliminated. Never. Prejudice/racism etc, has existed since the beginning of man.

We evolved to be that way. It wasn't so good to let other animals take over our territory back before ancient history, now animals pose no threat and we are against each other, history allows us to justify our arguments because the people we are racist against had someone in their heritage that did something wrong to someone in our heritage and thus we have a fight before we even meet the people.

Either way, we're all inherently "racist". It is common for any human to associate what a person is like by his looks - from wearing bling to his skin color - and actions carried out by "similar" parties, as Duke of Manlets explains. Hence, we attribute certain characteristics to given ethnic groups and generalize the hell out of them - e.g. Russians drink a lot, therefore they're drunkards; some Mexicans cross the border illegally, therefore they're fence hoppers; and so on and on.

Of course, a person that is "less racist" will probably realize that those characteristics are what they are - generalizations - and cannot say the same for everyone belong to a certain group.

Whether you like it or not, humans sympathise and prefer people who look like themselves. People who are labelled 'racist' are just acting on natural tendencies. Im not sayng its right or wrong. Unfortunatley "anthroforum' isnt working. But there was a Chinese study done where Chinese and Caucasians were shown videos of Chinese and Caucasians getting stuck with hyperdermic syringes. What was interesting is that part of the brain (I think was associated with empathy dont quote me) was more activated when a member from the same race was being hurt rather than another race.

All this ignorance bull****. The people who do not admit there are significant; physical, physiological and psycological differences between gorups of people are just as ignorant, if not more so, at times than racist people.

I know some people that would be considered "racist". However, it's important to remember that the word "racist" gets thrown around when it shouldn't as well as its meaning being twisted.

A lot of people say others are racist because they are either in fear or "not knowing". That may be true in some cases, but for the most part is a false feel-good reason. I know people that lived in areas where they didn't come into contact with black people until all the elementary schools merged into middle school. Before this, and for a couple years they weren't racist at all. Their parents weren't racist, and surely didnt' raise them that way. But once they, in thier own words, "got to know black people more, the more they hated them". Fear definitely wasn't a reason either.

There are also people who are what you would call "race supremicists", so they are labeled racist. However, these people neither hate nor want to harm other races. Their main goal is to advance their race as much as possible. These people associate with other races, and have friends of other races. Really, their goal is to just "keep their race alive and thriving." It is for this reason they are against interracial relationships and breeding as well as other things. Oppressing people is something they neither intend or want to do.

You also have your people who are racists in every sense where they are against anything having to do with another race. In some cases these people want to "eradicate the Earth of other races". Pure hatred for other races is also a trait of these people.

Of course there are other types or mixtures of the types that I presented. Obviously, what determines someone's racial outlook are their life experiences. Another thing to remember is that its hard for someone not to form an opinion about a race if they see on the news that most criminals, athletes, dancers, etc. are of a certain race.
