How about a thought for our honored dead and those who serve?
With all the infighting that goes on in this god-forsaken forum, how about a moment to think about those who serve, served and died to protect our sorry asses, whether in WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq from those who would see us dead.
"Every day, and especially on Veterans Day, every American should pause and reflect on the freedoms they enjoy. They should thank those responsible for giving them those freedoms. If you value your civil liberties, don't thank a politician. Thank a veteran."

I admit this is pretty much all a repost from OV35 Misc, and while the powers that be frown on cross posts, I think it bears repeating...
You know our servicemen and servicewomen are real stand-up people when they don't give their service a second thought. I was in CVS the other week; I am near Ft. Monmouth. There was a man and woman from the base in the store. I looked at them and said "thank you". As they moved aside they said "oh, no problem", thinking I thanked them for moving aside! I was speechless (now, how often does that happen?).
Finally a day shared by the UK and the US. It's Remembrance Day here too, although most of the ceremonies were on Sunday, when people lay poppy wreaths on the memorials.
Recently some young drunk idiot was caught on camera taking a piss on a war memorial, which disgusted the majority. Then it came to light that one memorial a week is vandalised. One of the worst cases was a swastika being spray painted across the list of war dead. I honestly don't know what's up with these people.

I think Oz and NZ too? And Canada. Great countries, only separated by a common language, someone said.
