Im thinking your wrong.
2 - 3 years minimum for contest / stage ready. I would say 9 - 12 months to become lean / in shape while cutting but dude , stage ready is a whole other ballgame.

In all seriousness, probably close to 3 years. And you have to be dedicated EVERY day. I remember readinf in FLEX a few years back, Milos Sarcev said anyone could be a serious bodybuilder in 3-4 years.
Yes, you could be in great shape in a year, but as someone already said, competing is a different game. I'm FAR from a bodybuilder, but I do know competing is much more than being in shape.

with the right training and diet plan, consistency for 1 1/2 to 2 years I could have you on stage!

Have a look at the work Shelby Starnes did with Marc Bartley. I think Marc was well over 300lbs when started dieting and was on stage at ripped 190ish pounds in 12 months. Check out this link for the before and after pictures http://asp.elitefts.com/qa/training-...=79461&tid=163.

He did that in 1 year! Amazing! If the OP is serious then he should use this as inspiration.

With the right training and diet you could be ready in a year or so man, the guys saying 2-3 years are crazy, they underestimate the power of determination and will, keep working hard at it man and you will get there.

I think 4-5 months is enough preparation for you.
and that is a very reasonable time span in order for you to be stage ready...
well, may i ask what are the necessary routines or exercise plan you are doing now in order for us to know or calculate how much time you'll be needing in order to be stage ready?
