Doctors Update: thyroid (Serious) (For anyone that cares)
*please read*
ok little back story i suspected i had low testosterone, got blood test on monday, was told to phone wednesday (today) to get results.
i was out all day yesterday with mates. apparantely the doctor phoned my mam saying there was a problem/something had come up on the blood test results and needs to see me ASAP.
Todays Update:
went to the doctors, he read through all 37 of the tests they ran with my blood. everything was fine except for a thyroid problem and low-ish testosterone. the surprising bit is that i actually have HYPOthroidism. the worst part is, the doctor says this usually only occurs in middleaged women (serious)(fml) anyway he said hed usually just give me the tablets and see how it goes but because hes never known a male as young as i am to have this 'condition' hes making me an appointment for the endocroninologist (Sp) which ill find out over the next few days when the appointment is. hopefully.

Why does everyone on the misc assume they have low test levels because they make poor gains? Your test levels drop after puberty, same as in every other male, accept it.

how could he not have diagnosed me properly? i went in told him my symptoms, told him i thought it was a testosterone problem. he got the blood tests done for me and it came back as a thryoid + slight testosterone problem. dont know how it could get any more simple for him to diagnose. plus hes wanting me to see the endocroninologist (sp) its all free so its not as if hes doing to to scam money or anything. hes a pretty chill doctor (english speaking too which is hard to find (no racist)) he obviously cares for my health

why does everyone think testosterone only effects gains? theres a list of symptoms for low testosterone, it only mentions muscle gaining once in that list. i had most of the other symptoms. i dont want to increase my testosterone for gains, i could care less. i wanted the other symptoms to go away.. look it up
edit: i wouldnt know if its effecting my gains due to not having been to the gym in a while (due to the problems ive been having, which turned out to be thyroid + testosterone)

Find a doc that knows thyroid issues and has lots of experience treating them.
I had to go through 4 before I could find one that knew wtf they were doing.

Aren't most thyroid conditions hereditary?
My dad had his removed couple of years ago after cancer. Got told it was higly likely myself and my brothers woudl have problems when were older.
edit: his father and fathers father also had problems

the doctor admitted to not knowing much, thats why he is refering me to a specialist. what do u think about the fact i have hypothoidism rather than hyper?

I am hypothyroid as well. Get it from my mom. Been on meds for it for years, feel totally fine, no side effects.
Once it's under control it's easy to keep in control if you stay on top of it. Just get your levels checked once or twice a year.

I have to take synthroid and cytomel.
I also take cymbalta for the joint pain.
That is the only thing that helps the joint pain for me.

I was recently diagnosed with the same...can something as simple as drugs or alcohol be the cause of this or is it genetic?

if you're really serious about treating your low test. Find an anti aging/testosterone specialist. I live in New Jersey and I am being treated by a Dr in Michigan. It's hard to find someone who knows what they are doing. Good luck brah.

Well, I don't think recreational drug use or alcohol will cause it.
However, my thyroid problem was caused by a drug accident.
Basically, my mom put hormone pills in a bottle of vitamin C I was taking.
So, it's probably genetic unless something really out of the ordinary happens.

yes, 100% serious.
Either depo provera or primarin.
But my mom is crazy... and she sometimes can't remember things.
Still won't admit she did something wrong.
