Me too, I could look at pictures like that all day long. Its so amazing that we are inside that huge bright cluster. It really makes me wonder if a Galactic Empire would really be possible (Star Wars) since there are billions of stars in a single galaxy, and possibly billions of planets.
Here is another nice one.
Dont worry about the reps either lol.

Yeah I took a couple astronomy classes in school as a couple of my electives just because I knew if i was really interested in it I could pass it. I love learning about outer space in general but being an astronaut would be the sweetest job of all.

Living in the UK you don't really get to see the stars that often. Damn I miss South Africa.

I agree 100% with this statement. Not trying to turn this into a debate of any kind, but human scientists couldnt possibly put together the pieces of this cosmic puzzle.

You would think so, right? I took an astronomy course back in 06 for the lulz, and had a brofessor in his mid 60's. This dude lectured every session for about three hours, not looking at a single piece of subject matter. So I clearly saw that this guy devoted at least a decade or something to astronomy.. but he was the most boring dude ever. His voice was always monotone and I seriously wondered if he hated his life lulz, srs. He was that boring.

I do appreciate your thoughtfulness but the pic is too big, stretches out everyones text and puts a scrollbar down there. Its irritating when people post big ass pictures, especially one like that when the smaller version you posted is just as good.
Take it down or negs, just sayin.

I think they mean that my thread title is redundant in a sense, because every pic of the Milky Way will be as it is, seen from Earth. I hadnt thought about it like that when I made the thread.
We are always presented with pictures of the entire Milky Way as a complete galaxy, as seen from far away in space. But in reality it isnt possible for us to see what the entire Milky Way looks like from a distance because we are inside it.
That would be like taking a picture of the whole exterior of your house from the inside of your bedroom; not possible.

Depends where you live in the UK, up here in the remoteness of Northern Scotland I can see the stars just fine. Different constellations in the Northern Hemisphere than in the South though.

Same brah
this whole "big bang" stuff just doesnt cut it for me
I really have no ****ing idea how something so detailed such as our own planet could be created by accident, let alone a whole ****ing universe full with them.

I'm not wondering how it happened, but why it happened. It's just crazy now neither spare nor time existed before the big bang. To me it seems like whatever caused the big bang was surrounded by negative space.

you do realise that radio telescopes pick up evidence from the big bang all the time right? there is a constant stream of particle going through the earth all the time. We pretty much know it was the big bang which created everything, we just don't know how the point before the big bang came to be.

That is incredible. The start, astronomy and space have always mind ****ed me. LOL!
It makes you realize how small we really are. At some point Im going to get a telescope and a good digicam and the adapter to connect them. Mind= blown then!
I live in Southwest, semi rural Florida. Very few houses out here and fewer street lights. On a clear night you can see everything it seems. Up in the Northeast in Boston for instance you could see nothing, too much light pollution I guess.
I cant get enough of the space stuff. My desktop is almost always something space related. Right now its the earth rising over the moon, as photographed by the Apollo 11 crew. Truly epic and mindblowing. To see the earth rise out of the black of space is unreal.
Google the hi res of that pic, its remarkable really.
There is also a huge res of the sunrise on Mars, looks unreal to think it was taken all those millions of miles away. The rovers took it. Crazy stuff.
