Some christians are always happy because they are delusional. All christians are delusional, some much more so than others.
If they actually followed their biblical text they would be overcome with grief and sadness at the state of suffering in this worlf and what is to come in the next. There is no time for them to be overtly happy because, according to the bible, so many people's external lives are at stake.
Any christian who responds to this post and claims it is incorrect is a lying fool.

I've already done that. AKR, as usual, ignored it.

Fun facts: Christian make up 75% of the population, 75% of the prison population. Atheists (this includes agnostics) make up 10% of the population, 0.2% of the prison population. I think on average yes theists will be happier than atheists as the correlation of happiness and iq on a downwards slope has been established. Couple that with the downwards scope of IQ and importance of religion you've got a good couple. You've got to know they're completely brainwashed, I mean damn it'd be pretty nice if I could make it to heaven but my limited intellect CAN NOT allow me to believe in these fairytales..

Personally, all this "average this-and-that" is B.S., anyway. Who cares?
You shouldn't judge Atheists or Theists as groups, anyway. People should be looked at as individuals, period. While it might be interesting that Atheists make up a proportionately smaller prison population or that someone thinks Theists are happier than non-theists, it still shouldn't override that idea that you judge people solely on an individual basis.
Who knows about these statistics, anyway. Maybe some Atheists "found God" after being imprisoned. Maybe some Christian said he was happy but is a manic depressant alcoholic. Going based solely on statistics you'd never know, but when you really dug down to it and found out more about it, the statistics were meaningless in those cases. Probably most cases, tbh.

I find athiests to be happier:
Living for this life as compared to living for an afterlife.

And what part of your tax money might that be? We built a house together out of pocket, and both work in the field of human services. U mad he has no mortgage?

Then in reality, I'm happier because I'm glad for where I'm at right now.

It's his choice that he's an intellectual coward, not mine.

christianity is not called the "opiate of the masses" for nothing. It helps turn the brain off to pain and reality just like the opiate drugs. That's one reason it's so highly addictive, and so hard to break the habit.
