Remote start for truck

Whats good and reliable ? I want distance capability too .

I've been through 3 Viper remote starts (3 diff cars) and they all worked great, never had a problem. Getting someone to install it can be pricey, although, it's a simple job.

I was looking at the diff Vipers, they do seem good. I would take the truck in anyway Mickey Shorr has some deals right now too.

^^ Lol. Seriously though, a remote starter is great especially in the winter when you want the car to warm up. It makes a great gift.

How far are you thinking re: 'distance capability'? Maybe something the Air Force or the US Army has with remote drones?

A few years back my dad bought my mom a remote starter for Christmas... it sat until spring when my brother in law finally broke down and installed it for them... nice...

I use compustar so far its good, my father has a one way in his van since 03 and its been going good. If you get two wat remote i suggest a screen one, as the led one can be a bit shifty sometimes.

installing a car alarm is not simple at ALL.

i used to do audio installation at best buy, and installing alarms was the WORST install you could get. some cars are easier than others, but omfg what a waste of time.

I was talking about the very simple remote starts, not the full fledged security/alarm systems. I used to work there too, and I had the $500 unit at the time that had all the bells and whistles. Really no need for all that in my opinion.

Agreed. I actully did the same thing part time at best buy during my first year of college. So gay that they made you buy your own tools.

I've put in aftermarket stereo equipment in each of my cars, as well as remote starters in two of them. Remote starters = pain in teh ballz. Solid 2-4 hours of testing, and tapping into wiring harnesses, and manipulating security systems ftl!

It's amazing how much some people suck. I had a friend get her oil changed at a jiffylube (or something like it), and they forgot to put oil in her car. Really? She made it five miles before her engine seised up.

If it were a tundra, I'd steal the engine and sell the shell.
If it were an 05+ taco, I'd put the OEM suspension back on my 03 taco and sell it. Then put on my lift kit on 'your' taco.
But for now, can I just come by and piss on it to see if it works?

Mark LT is an overpriced F150.

Ford has some ridiculous PATS(passive anti-theft system) that consists of a coded chip in your key. If the ECU doesn't receive the appropriate signal from the PATS the car won't start so you cannot use an after market remote start. Perhaps they've recitified this with later models though. But no remote start for my F250, but that was the least of its problems.
