Protein will not effect blood glucose readings. It is the carbs / sugars that will raise the numbers.

only if your carb and fat intake is very low for x amount of time, will the protein go through gluconeogenesis and then some of it might convert to glucose...but you'd have to try to do that...

Whey is insulinotropic. But define "spike" since I know people love to mindlessly throw that term around.

You are making this FAR too complicated. hit your macros, decent protein, lots of nutrients, and lift hard. Almost everything elicits a reponse--you want that. You need protein early to break the overnight fast.
People get to 3 and 4% BF naturally all the time, eating carbs. Unless you have a medical condition, it's really the end macros that count. The key is a caloric deficit and smart, yet sufficient, training. the rest is really just stuff most don't need to worry about. Take your whey--it won't keep you fat.

When it boils down to it, all foods cause insuline spike. However, the magnitude of the spike is what's important. I dont know exactly how much insulin is released, but im pretty sure its not the same magnitude as eating a big carby meal.

they are right insulin spikes when you eat or take whey (i prefer a whey isolate). The problem with people is they dont eat/diet properly and eat only three times a day with a shake so their insulin spikes lag you want a steady diet every 2 or so hours eating allowing metabolism to build and only getting natural sugars from food and fruits and proteins. your over thinking it trust me.
