fitted doesn't mean tailored.
The fit is the cut of the coat from the block. Tailoring is taking an existing style of coat and adjusting measurements for your body.
edit: more specifically in the context I used, fitted means a slimmer fit. A double breasted jacket that isn't fitted has virtually no slimness from that standard male block which is a bit more generous. That standard block is why a double breasted jacked makes someone look like a walking rectangle! ha

Um you're right, they're not synonymous, such that tailoring has many more facets than that. So, altering clothing to a fitted cut is completely trivial to most of them. They can easily taper the waist, adjust shoulder width, alter sleeve length/width etc...It's not just relegated to a "proper fit."
Since I prefer the fitted look, rather than limiting myself to a pre-fitted manufactured cut, I pick the exact article I want and have it slimmed down to my specifications. Ive had this done successfully on many garments (from overcoats to shirts).
Also, tailors are by no means created equal, so be diligent and fastidious in finding one you like. I can guarantee it will look better than almost any pre-fitted coat you will find.

Should I go with a P coat this year and a matching messanger cap? I have had one in the past and I think its time to bring it back. What do you guys think?

idk man...some of the higher end pea coats etc are really nice and worth the money.
me personally i have my fathers peacoat from when he was in the navy, it fits well and is warm as hell.
if i cant rock that i'll usually go with this...

howdy gents!
i have recently been trying to give my wadrobe a little boost, picked up 4-5 really nice polo button ups, some higher end jeans, etc. Question: i love the Polo button ups but they could do with a little tailoring for that perfect fit (i LOVE shirts that fit my frame nicely). since i have allready invested in the shirts...in your experience how much would it cost to get them slightly altered? (just the torso area, below chest is too baggy, want to get it more close fitting)

Thanks man. My dad is a huge, huge Omega collector. He has about 15 vintage speedmasters and seamasters and about 5 constellations, not to mention his new stuff which include a beautiful croc banded constellation.

So assuming these are probably your starter watches, what's next for you? You seem to have one hell of a potential price point in the future, so im wondering if you will transcend to the Big 3, as most do...
