The Crossfit gym near me is $150 a month, personal training is extra. I don't even want to know what it costs in a nice area in California. Look at how many people are in that small space. $$$$$$$$$$

I see a lot of bodybuilders or powerlifters making fun of guys running on the treadmill or doing bodyweight exercises, when these guys don't care about what we want, they are probably trying to build up some cardiovascular health
but this is a bodybuilding forum soooo..... crossfit is for phags

Im not jocking Crossfit and Im not bashing it either. I think it can have its place depending on your goals. ALOT of people do it where I work..FD and PD and its done some amazing transformations with some of the people there. Ill agree with you on the video...it was TERRIBLE and thats not all Crossfit is about. You can make some great gains with the OLY lifts and cardio as well, but like I said. Not for everyone....but here are a few examples of some of the real hardcore crossfit workouts or the fact it CAN work....
alot of their stuff is retarded, but they do make some pretty good metabolic conditioning workouts just using bodyweight which I find pretty cool, here's a nice comprehensive list

Hot chicks as always, but too much of a friendly-happy workout environment for me. And the half naked guys. Then again if when I wore clothes I looked like I never worked out, I would lose my shirt any chance I get. Thinking about it, I could live with looking 'average' if I had some actual impressive physical abilities.

I'm surprised at the support you guys are giving for CF, because in my experience it is way too focused on moving noobs into relatively difficult exercises without the strength to support it. That's why they do bull**** like kipping pullups, jumping pullups, and lifts with bad form. If it was just a good aerobic workout, like simple circuit training, I'd be fine with it. But I see a lot of potential for injury with their exercise programs, particularly the 20 minute ones that seem to prioritize # of reps over form.
Here's an example of another bad CF move I saw on that crossfit youtube channel. They're taking an excellent bodyweight exercise and making it easier by cutting out the most important part, the squat. By so this, they're putting a ton of strain on the wrists. Why not just do it the right way, instead of trying to do it so quickly?

Yes, very good. I'll have a Bloody Mary and a steak sandwich and... a steak sandwich, please.
Personally I like crossfit alot for an everyday fitness aspect. Seeing the results first hand that the program produced on a group of 65 individuals over a period of 2 months proved the effectiveness of crossfit to me. I feel crossfit can be very effective for fitness, not for powerlifting and not for bodybuilding. Though some of the exercises are complex, many of the exercises can be substituted for less complex exercises. Crossfit is much more intense than it looks and produces "fitness results". Also I feel that crossfit combined with and implemented with a solid conventional weight lifting program can ellicit fine results for an athletic, powerful, and good looking physique while also be fit and healthy.

I don't know too much about Crossfit, but this isn't what I think of when I hear about it.
A buddy of mine used Crossfit to train for Delta and made it through. Whether or not he would have made it without Crossfit, who knows. But the stuff he was doing involved things like tire flips, kettlebell exercises, and rope climbs. I can't imagine him wasting time doing jumping pullups.

If anything about Crossfit is funnier than the utter idiocy that permeates every corner of this website, I will literally eat my ****ing computer. At the very least, the Crossfit guys know how to properly execute a squat, and can do ten pullups in a row. The people on this site range in education from woefully ignorant to shockingly incapable of even the simplest forms of typed communication, much less lift anything useful. And "built"? Every other person on this site suffers from malnutrition that rivals that of the denizens of Auschwitz.
Hey pot, kettle's on the phone.

I personally like crossfit and I have been doing it to continue my cut instead of boring cardio. The main reason to do it in a gym with people is their is much better motivation and competition.. I think any exercise that gets people moving is good, who cares if jumping pullups looks ghey it prob works well..

I don't think jumping pullups "look ghey", I think they're a completely retarded way of doing a good exercise. Basically what you're saying, is that CF is for people that are so weak-willed that they can't exercise without some greedy ****s making the exercise routine into a game? Form, volume, and time under tension are all crucial elements of strength building exercises (which CF claims to be) and yet they ignore these components in favor of speed and aerobic exertion. As others have said, there's better ways to build strength, and there's better ways to do cardio, CF seems like a poor mix of the two that simply puts the participants at greater risk of injury.
I have not performed a CF workout myself, so if others have and have had results that are superior to basic resistance and cardio training, then I would definitely re-consider my stance on it. But from everything that I've seen and read about the program, it's just another way to get the customers to part with more $$ at their gym.

I'm curious, how many people here have tried jumping pullups?
About a year back, in MILO (if you don't know what it is, go to Ironmind.com) there was an article that described jumping pullups. As the article pointed out, if you don't know what you are looking at it will just look like a retarded pullup. If you TRY it (I know, god forbid we do anything that isn't the big 3 plus curls, right? ) you will figure out that as a conditioning tool it isn't half bad.
Or... you could just continue to mock that which you don't understand. That will give you mad street cred, I'm sure
