I also used to drink 1 gallon of pasturized milk every day, in my youth and I gained alot of weight, alof of fat weight that is. Then I was told by an old school body builder who ran his own gym / spa and getting rid of the pasturized milk. I lost 50 lbs in 6 months from just that alone. Now I'm back to being big again, more built than I ever was, alot leaner and not a big waist. He recently bought some farmers milk and it works because he can gain about 20 lbs in a month and he's not fat and not on steroids anymore either. If I could find a good stable source of farmers milk, I'd be all over it.

when bulking up, its not uncommon for me to drink up to a half gallon of milk a day. It makes for delicious milkshakes, and it goes along well with most meals for healthy added calories.

its dumb to force yourself to drink a gallon of milk. Get the calories from somewhere else, no reason to make yourself sick.

Looking at your picture you need all of those calories to feed your muscles, ..... For a majority of the people asking these questions they are nowhere fit as you are and drinking a half gallon to a gallon of milk a day is retarted, unless those extra calories are needed for a hard workout or to supplement for a lack of diet throughout the day. Although a half gallon is somewhat reasonable then drinking a WHOLE gallon a day, even if it is skim milk.

I see what you mean, and its especially true when you really start to calculate your BMI (body mass index) and your RMR (resting metabolic rate) --- Milk is a good way to add easy calories, and its pretty high in protein (as compared to other drinks) so its a good choice for bodybuilders and elite athletes.
forcing yourself to drink a gallon of milk a day wont do any good if you feel sick and dont work out and dont control the rest of your diet.

Milk is meant to make the skinny bastards strong. Don't say you know better, when 30+ years of empirical evidence proves the effectiveness of GOMAD.

Heres Big Cats take on Milk, and the steroid like feature from Vitamin D. This will hopefully help you out if you want to try consuming a waste of a gallon of milk a day.

idk why people on here are saying that it is stupid, and that it makes you fat, etc. ive gained 2 reps on my bench in less than 2 weeks from drinking 1/4 gallon..
i cant get up to a gallon yet bc i haveto steal the milk fro mthe buffett at my college lol, and bc if i go even a day without drinkn it balls to the wall, i get mad stomach issues.
that being said, theres quite a few kiddos on here acting like they know what they are talking about, and putting down people who say that bb'ers back in the day were just "shooting up".. uhm nah, they lived on farms and ate 50 eggs a day and did indeed drink a gallon of un-fuk'd with milk. it works. it works for me. im getting so strong on just milk.. i dont even eat anything else sometimes bc of my schedule and it saves my butt. nuff said.

yeah you the kid.. they were "shootn up???"
this is from your earlier post..
tell me why exactly your putting down the FACT that old bodybuilders used things like milk and good, wholesome food to get the physiques that they had.. your saying it isn't so..
i just made a thread like this too, ironic.

I am not saying milk is bad in anyway, it is good to consume and best to mix with protein powders to slow the composition down to aid in digestion. What I am getting at is a gallon of milk is a pure waste, add up the calories, fats, protein and other things and you will see that the total number is not reasonable for most people. If you are hitting the weights hard and doing heavy cardio to burn the calories then this may be a different story. Most of the people asking on this site on how to consume a gallon of milk have no idea on proper nutritiion. Their are better ways to get the proper nutrition out of daily meals and also protein powders to supplement at times. (I am not sure what you are getting at by the 'gomad' ???) Their are some very good articles on this site on milk and how it is beneficial to someones diet, but a gallon a day is just retarted! Maybe back in the day drinking a gallon of milk was beneficial but technology has been well advanced in nutriotion to find better ways, and a lot of people back in the day did resort to steroids which would cause the body to grow well different in which case a gallon may have been helpful. (I am not saying this is the case for everyone as far as the steroids statement goes, but a majority of everyone on here will not find a gallon of milk a day justifiable to gaining a large amount of muscle.)

I just want to point out that no weight gainer is cheaper than milk. A gallon of milk is $2-$3 and is good for about 3000 calories. Really hard to find better calorie to dollar ratio.
Personally, for me to gain weight I have to be around 5-6000 calories a day. When I do that, I typically drink 3/4 to a gallon of milk each day. You also have to realize that drinking a gallon of milk a day is targeted toward people that don't eat enough. How many times have you heard "I can't gain weight and I eat a ton." But when the diet is listed their entire day's intake is what I eat for breakfast?
It's also targeted toward young, active kids. I don't know about you, but when I was 15, I would eat three value meals at Burger King for lunch, come home and eat a monster sandwich and than eat constantly until I went to sleep. I couldn't get enough calories in me since I was growing so fast. I wouldn't suggest anyone do that, but I did it and wasn't fat at all at the time. I also went through a ton of milk. My mom couldn't keep it on the shelf. Like anything else reality is in shades of grey, and situation will dictate when something is the right thing to do or not.

While I don't think you should force yourself to drink a gallon of milk per day if it's uncomfortable, lactase enzymes and probiotic supplements would be beneficial. Also make sure you aren't tilting your calcium to magnesium ratios excessively far, as would likely be the case in that scenario.

milk is slow enough as it is as its casein..
thats why your not supposed to drink milk post workout, bc its not absorbed quickly enough.. the fat in the milk helps to slow absorbtion of carbs too i believe..
its realy not retarded.. in fact, its not even like too much.. im drinkn a quarter, or actually 6 cups and its not even too too much, as long as you drink it threw the day.
PLUS, i would rather have myself drink milk throughout the day then soda. im one of those people who will continually drink something if its in front of me until im full or sick of it.

There is no need to drink a gallon of milk a day... Infact some studies show milk is unhealthy. Personaly I love milk, and when I used to lift alot, I drank a gallon a day. But it really is pointless. You can get calcium from pills much more so then milk, and same with protien, and milk has a lot of extra fat sugar **** in it that you dont need. Some of the reasons the FDA and others think its bad too is because they claim that because some farms may give their cows growth hormone that its bad if you drink it... But to me, if thats the case, Id start drinking as much as I could lol. Over all though, I think milk is fine and good for you, but drinking a gallon is just stupid.

i drink about half a gallon of 1% milk a day; i simply like it, and it bumps up my calories when i don't have time to cook. but now after reading this, im worried about the kidney stones since i have family history of stones. does anyone know how much milk you can drink before you risk getting kidney stones?
