You said you havn't noticed it bothering you? I can't really tell you what to do about the movie situation, but I can shed some light on the hernia deal as I was in the exact same boat two years ago this month.

I had an abdominal hernia, except mine caused me pain (I don't understand how people can have them and they don't hurt... your tissue rips!!). It wasn't really a choice for me as it was interrupting my daily life, and kept me from lifting . I didn't have the mesh inserted though. The surgeon pushed it back in, cut the sides of the hernia so they would heal together, and stitched it up. But my grandfather and both my uncles (I think it runs in the family... my cousin also had one, but no mesh) both had the mesh, and it was a huge success for both of them.

I was back to light weight training in 6 weeks, so it wasn't too bad.

But if it's not bothering you or getting in the way of your life/lifting, I probably wouldn't have surgery, unless theres a chance it could get worse (I guess thats always a possibility with hernia's actually).

Do you know what the movie is about dude?
Yeah, but I can't say anything because my friend is putting up A LOT of his money, so can't give any details.

as far as the hernia goes, it doesnt hurt, but I do think it has gotten to a point to where if I lift any heavier I'll either make it worse or it'll start to hurt.

So here's the story on the predicaments I was discussing a few days ago, but didn't get into detail about.
Most of you won't care, but reason why I am posting it is because it will affect my training. So here they are:

1. I have a hernia. By my guesstimate, I've had it for a couple of years, but back when I first figured it out, there wasn't really anything that could have been done. Taking time off was no guarantee that it would heal, and the surgical procedures at the time had something like a 50% success rate. It didn't hurt, so I never really worried about it.

Talking to my chiropractor friend the other day, he suggested a new type of surgery (apparently) where a wire mesh is actually inserted in your abdomen where the hernia is, and the muscle heals over it and the scar tissue actually makes it stronger.

Problem is I would not be allowed to touch a weight for 2 months.

Which brings me to
2. A close friend has offered me a leading part in a (very) low budget movie. Only problem is I need my "muscles" for it, as that's why he wants me to be in it. the script should be done in a few weeks and would start filming in Dec/Jan. So obviously I wouldnt be able to take 2 months off from the gym.

Where this is bringing 5/3/1 into play is I am going to have to modify my training a little bit. I plan on incorporating an Arm Day, as well as doing abs 3-4 times a week, and actually doing cardio. We'll see if this inhibits any progress I have made.

Also, I've begun taking CLA and Green Tea Extract in order to help me shed some bodyfat.

My ultimate goal is to be around 200 lbs with 6-8% BF, so we'll see how the next 2 months go.
I dont understand much about these injuries. Seems to me that this is likely to prevent you from anything that stresses the abdomen / lower back region. In such a case why dont you consider a workout that doesnt involve squatting and deadlifting, at least till the filming is over; after that you can take a longer time off and allow it to heal.

Basically the beach body kind of workouts, 'coz I guess that's what is going to be more important in a movie, right?

Well if you decide to do the movie, you could always just lighten the weight to just maintain what you have without risking any further problems with the hernia.

And if you don't do it, I'm sure you will get it fixed. It's a pretty walk-in-the-park surgery. The recovery sucks though

Ended up using this week as an off week.....was supposed to be a deload week anyway, but after my workout on Monday I realized its been about 5 months since Ive had a full week off, so figured it would be for the best.

Taking the time to get all my training, supps, and diet planned for the upcoming gauntlet Im about to give my body

killer workout as usual. So you are cutting now? So how does your diet look? Given your bulking diet of 5-6,000 kcal/day, I am wondering if your cutting diet is a bit over my bulking diet

Two questions, PM me the answers cuz it's easier:

1.) You still doing standing barbell presses or are you now seated?

2.) You ever going to visit your cousin in CT?

been averaging about 3000, been up and down though, not on purpose, just have had a weird schedule as of late. Same amount of protein, cut carbs down to about 150 a day, none after 4pm (which suuuuuuuuucks), and still hittin about 80-90 grams of fat.

That's a huge deficit, given your normal intake. Plus with that macro-profile, you will be stripping fats like crazy. My intake, to begin with, was never to high, so found it hard to cut for than 5-600 kca/day and still feel alive, lol.

Deadlift and Bench 11/18

having to modify workouts this week a bit due to time constraints....combined deadlift and bench days.

Deadlift:
260x3
295x3
330x8 (PR for reps)

Bench:
195x3
220x3
250x4 (not a PR, but still felt good considering I didnt have a spotter and just did deads)

Kroc Rows:
50x15
60x15
70x15
100x10

-superset with-

Incline DB bench:
50sx15
55sx15
60sx15
70sx12

pretty quick workout, shoulder felt good. was pretty amazed at the workout actually cause I hadnt been feeling well so I havent eaten as much, plus I didnt take any supps the past two days. actually felt like a pretty good little "reset"

starting take White Flood tonite as my preworkout NO, I liked it the last time I used it and I just finished my tubs of Black Powder and Jack3d.
