A. I was going to compete in the 2009 Mr. Olympia if I had signed the contract with MuscleTech. I was negotiating with them but BSN out bid them so I signed with BSN and they did not require me to compete in the Olympia as the contract I was going to sign with MuscleTech required me to do. I will not be under contract in 2010 with anyone and this leaves me free to compete and make this decision on my own and this is what I want to do.

lol right I'm sure that "the others", we're speaking here about the the bbing fans, didn't contribute at all at his fame and fortune, and for Ronnie it was just fun and games all the times.
Grow up, do you think that Ronnie is more naive than the others rich guys in this sport, like Jay, Shawn, Levrone, Flex? Just because Ronnie has more a playful character it's not always sunny on his street. In this sport few can make decent money, so you have to be business-minded to make a decent living, so yeah, the way the fans and the industry see you it's very important if you want to be in the game. Markus Ruhl knows this very well.
Ronnie should keep his reputation and his record, not to let himself go under some newcomers who were in diapers when he started competing. If you are a real fan of someone, you wish him to be the best, not encourage him to compete and then take him down because he wasn't at the level that you expected. We'll see if I'm right after the Olympia 2010.
This should have been Ronnie's last show and then retire undefeated
Oh, and a retard I thought that was someone who can at most call names, but what do I know?
For someone that uses the word 'retard' satirically I would have expected a more eloquent assertion.
The 'he should retire when we (fans) want him to because we made him rich' argument is preposterous on all levels. Maybe the President, rather than making decisions for the country on his own behalf should just open up a public opinion poll to guide his actions, after all we voted him into office..
And also, do you speak for all fans when you say that he should retire? Many people would love the opportunity to see a living legend compete, and I myself would like to see if the old man still has it in him.
Everyone loves to see an immaculate, awe-inspiring career, but that's missing the point. Ronnie could have retired in 2005 and given bodybuilding the most perfect story to this date. But what matters to Ronnie most when he is on his deathbed isn't whether he had the perfect career in the minds of others, but that he followed his dream and passion of competing for as long as he possibly could. So far be it from me to say he shouldn't when he is still easily capable of top 10 in the world.

How are you gonna give the title to a guy who can only do half a lat spread? Among other things. if he looked like 2003-2005 sure but he was lacking compared to those years because of obvious injuries and Cutler brought his best. Ronnie with no injuries or posing problems > Jay Cutler.

Jay looks so bland here. Ronnie easily stands out the most.
Agreed, Ronnie looked freaking insane in 06, people say he had "half a lat" etc. His back wasnt that bad in 06, and the rest of his 300 pound body made up for the other flaws. His legs absolutely destroyed everyone elses too. Look at his lat spread at 0:45...sure his back wasnt as good as it used to be, but it was still is good, not enough to cost him a sandow..and his waist was pretty good, better than 03 and 04.

He lost his back poses, which were usually his trump cards. Jay beat him in back poses for once. He had the best arm on stage, and arguably the worst arm on stage. One arm looked literally over 2 or 3 inches bigger than the other one. Jay was the more complete bodybuilder and that is why he was given the nod. If Ronnie had been 100% he would have won easy but he was not.

its almost like self destructive. when you consider the amount drugs he has to do to get on that stage. You guys cheering him to damage his body. Its not like golf. I have no doubt he isnt rich. When you are in a contest to win 250k but it costs 150k in food and supplements to get ready. You did a little better than break even. He was a great champion he should bow out with some class and not abuse his body for others entertainment.

hes not doing it for the fans, hes doing it because he loves to. you bring up money when he said he doesnt care about winning. and LOL show us some proof that any bodybuilder spends 150K a year on food and supps, LOL. and how does continuing to compete, to do what he loves make him lose any class or reputation? you people need to get off his back

I had read Jay spend 80 grand on food alone a yr. When you think he is eating quality food 5 -6 meals a day, that's not a crazy number. Then there the cycles to get ready. What do you think that costs? I have great respect for ronnie, its time to let it go for his own health.
Anyone else have a slight inkling that this is simply business, and that he isn't actually going to compete? this just keeps him in the lime-light? and keeps deals coming.
No offence to him, its smart, i would love to see him compete though!

I've thought this as well. We'll see though, I hope he does compete even though I don't think he could win another title unfortunately. The left lat and left tricep will never be the same.

Jay Cutler said it best : "IT'S A GOOD THING THAT THE FANS AREN'T JUDGES"
If it were so, Ruhl or Wolf would place top 3 at each contest. What happens on stage must be judged based only the physiques and the popularity should count only outside the stage. But popularity and the way the fans perceive the bbers is so important, that even the powers that be reward more often the more charismatic guys.
Jay deserved to win in 2006 because Ronnie lost especially the poses from the back, where he was the king in the previous years. Jay Cutler had at least the same level of mass and better symmetry.

yates was the best in '97, but he felt that his injuries will make him defeatable, and eventually he'll lose, so he made his best move: He retired in glory.
In 2006 he lost, but in 2007 people were expecting ronnie to repair his injuries and to come again at 100%. But now that is clear that it's impossible, many of his fans will prefer him after the 2010 olympia to retire, because the hopes to see the old ronnie are broken, and you dont't like to see your idol beaten by some 3rd tiers for years in a row.
lol wut?
