Upper Body ME Day

Had to workout at 7 am this morning cuz of scheduling conflicts with my two training partners. It went very well tho. My workout was fueled by one of the gym overseers telling me that I can?t use my bands or foam roller because they were not gym equipment. This was bull**** so I didn?t listen because the gym at school provides neither so I told her until they get them I?m bringing my own. After that she said nothing haha.

Dynamic Warm up/ Run 3 laps

Bench Press
5 warm up sets
(55%) 155 X 12
(60%) 175 X 12
(65%) 185 X 15 Just missed the 16th rep
I havent done rep in a long time for anything always good to switch it up

Pullups
Bodyweight for 14 then for 15
Superset with a Push Up medley alternating wide and close push ups starting at 8 going down to one did 2 sets

Kroc Rows superset with Band Pull Aparts

For anyone who doesnt know what Kroc rows are heres a video of Matt Kroc himself doing 225 for 25!! Holy crap 60 for 33 an I almost died
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7jAIdoORxI

BB Curls 2 sets

Lower Body High Rep Day

This was the first week that the new Recreation Center was open. The place is unbelievable but I still had to wait for some equipment. I?m sure it will start to die down soon once it gets cold? the cold separates the men for the boy and women from the girl here in New England. I?ll be making some modifications to my workout program to make it flow better cuz right now my workouts are lasting over and hour

Dynamic Warm up
Jump Rope

Free Squats
5 warm up sets
(55%) 175 X 12
(60%) 185 X 12
(65%) 205 X 16
These high reps felt great? focused on having good form today but im still having a problem with keeping my chest up

Front Squat Barbell Slide Board Lunge
Bar X 12
95 X 12

These were hard especially after that last set of squats? One of the coaches of the track team worked in with us today and we talked about how these lunges are one of the best if not the best exercise you can do that will transfer over to athletics? Ill post a video next time

Band Jacknife 2 sets
Glute Ham Rasies 3 sets with green band

These are really hard but they work the whole lower body and are a staple in all Westside Programs

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KEANXxHsI_g

Moutain Climbers 3 sets if 40 reps
Barbell Shrugs 3 sets last set was 315 for 15

I?m sure a lot of you saw this already but check out this chick she should probably switch to MMA? I don?t know how she doesn?t get ejected

Weekend Training

Didn't do **** this weekend training wise? just enjoyed myself in downtown Boston and now I got 3 papers to write. It shouldn't be too bad one of them is on 1 Rep Max Back Squat and 5, 10, 20, 40 yard dash times so at least its something I find interesting?

I found this on Joey Smiths log on Elite Fitness I thought I?d post it pretty funny? http://asp.elitefts.com/qa/training-...qid=107801&tid

A way to stimulate the American Economy

Just in case you get a check....

Sometime this year, we taxpayers will again receive an Economic Stimulus payment.

This is a very exciting program. I'll explain it using the Q and A format:

Q. What is an Economic Stimulus payment?

A. It is money that the federal government will send to taxpayers.

Q. Where will the government get this money?

A. From taxpayers.

Q. So the government is giving me back my own money?

A. Only a smidgen.

Q. What is the purpose of this payment?

A. The plan is for you to use the money to purchase a high-definition TV set,

thus stimulating the economy..

Q. But isn't that stimulating the economy of Asia ?

A. Shut up or you don't get your check.

Below is some helpful advice on how to best help the US economy by spending

Your stimulus check wisely:

1 If you spend the stimulus money at Wal-Mart, your money will go to China .

2 If you spend it on gasoline, your money will go to Saudi Arabia .

3 If you purchase a computer, it will go to India ..

4 If you purchase fruit and vegetables, it will go to Mexico , Honduras and Guatemala .

5 If you buy a car, it will go to Japan or Korea .

6 If you purchase useless plastic stuff, it will go to Taiwan .

7 If you pay off your credit cards, or buy stock, it will go to pay management bonuses

and be hidden in offshore accounts.

Instead, you can keep the money in America by:

1 Spending it at yard sales or flea markets, or

2 Going to baseball or football games, or

3 Hiring prostitutes, or

4 Buying cheap beer or

5 Getting tattoos.

These are the only wholly-American-owned businesses still operating in the US .

Conclusion:

The best way to stimulate the economy is to go to a ball game with a prostitute that

you met at a yard sale and drink beer all day until you're drunk enough to go get tattooed.

And if you get the chance read Joe Defranco?s 22 Ways to be BUILT Like a Badass real good stuff

http://www.defrancostraining.com/ask...-a-badass.html

Deadlifts

Lower body Max Effort

So I?ve decided that ill be doing a push/pull meet this February as long as everything goes as planned. Its the New England Cabin Fever Challenge in Scituate, MA. I?ve been toying with the idea of competing again and now is the time. I looking forward to it and ill be competing again my training partner Kevin who is that same age and weight class as me. This means training is gonna get intense and so will the meet. I can?t let him beat me. Today?s training was high rep deadlifts which I got video. I almost had a heart attack and needed a AED to revive me? good ****.

Dynamic Warm up
Jump Rope

Deadlifts
5 warm up sets
(55%) 210 X 12
(60%) 230 X 12
(65%) 250 X 14
These high reps felt great on the shins? Ladies its much easier to just do deadlifts then shave cuz all my shin hairs were ripped out after this? I clearly have to work on my form because as you can see my ass moves first then my chest? I have to make this one smooth motion.

Me 250 X 14
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1U1jUhNKlqI

Kevin 250 X 18
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDhxp9CPFBc

BB Split Squats 2 sets
Hanging Leg Raises 2 sets
Stability Ball Leg Curls 2 sets
Spread Eagle Sit Ups 2 sets
Partner GHR?s 2 sets
Side Bends 2 sets
Zercher Complex 2 sets
Windshield Wipers 2 sets

This idea is brilliant and should be done everywhere people MIGHT actually take the stairs? people are so god damn lazy?

Thanks man. Yeah it took my shoulder about 4 months to heal well enough to lift and now its about 95% 8 month later. It still gives me trouble some days but nothing I can't live with...I had a grade 2 separation... goodluck with your shoulder hope it heals quicker then mine did cuz not being able to lift killed me

Multiple Great Stories, New Videos, and Foam Bench Press

Good News or Bad News?

Good news.. I smoked my Macro Economic test today in about 20 min and smoked all my lifts in the gym today

Bad Newz? yes I spelt it with a Z? While parking at the meters today I got out and noticed the parking spot ahead of me had 30 min left on their meter. I thought sh*t I can save 40 cents if I just pull up. So that?s what I did, then as soon as I got out of my car I was greeted with a wonderful surprise. My Ipod fell out of my shorts while I was getting into my car and I RAN the fu**ing thing over!!! SO this park job which was suppose to save me 40 cents just cost me 100$? Its amazing how sh*t like this happens..

Good day at the gym today. Got all my lifts and my back is fried after all the pull ups and Kroc rows. Me and Kevin witnessed some amazing stuff today at the gym? I am contemplating, after a suggestion from Kev, to make a Meathead of the Day on here and video tape some of the horrendous and stupid exercises some of these kids do?my personal favorite is curling in the squat rack? and IF YOU CANT PICK UP THE WEIGHT AND BRING IT BACK TO THE RACK THEN DON?T DON?T DO THE EXERCISE? I cant stand when people drop the 120?s from shoulder height your sooooooo badass?NOT

On to the workout?

Dynamic Warm up

Jump Rope

Foam Bench

6 warm up sets

(95%) 275 X 6

(100%) 285 X 6

(105%) 295 X 6

Practice 225 X 8 with the Foam

This was the only exercise I beat Kevin at today? I was very excited

Pull Ups weighted vest for 16 then 14

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=41VC78GlYQ8

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNh_3DEmPAM

Max Push Ups 52 then 38

High Box Squats + Bill Belichick

Wasn’t feeling well today so I upped the caffeine intake and took some ibuprofen haha whatever gets you through the workout… I’m paying for in now though I feel like ass. Just wanted to mention how sick I am of hearing about Belichicks call to go for in on 4th and 2. I know it looks dumb now but if the Pats had made that plays we would have won the game and everyone would be saying Belichicks a genius! Leave the guy alone he made a decision to try and win the game… maybe the pats should of played some defense on that final drive. Just my opinion…

Dynamic Warm up
Jump Rope

Box Squats
5 warm up sets on a low box well below parallel
Then High Box about an inch above parallel
(95%) 295 X 3
(100%) 315 X 3
(105%) 335 X 3
Ended with a form practice set of 250 X 8 on the box
This took a lot out of us so we only did one set of everything else

Front Barbell Reverse Lunges 95 X 12
Band Jackknifes 1 set
Partner GHRs 1 set of 10
Band Pulldown Standing Crunches 2 sets
DB Shrugs 1 set
Planks 1 set
Pull Throughs 1 set
Calves 1 set

This is where I want to be at with my jump roping! This guys is nuts… and I have no idea why he screams the whole time but whatever this is sick. Floyd Mayweather doesn’t have **** on this guy…

Horrible Morning, DB Snatchs, New Videos, and Fat Gripz

Got my Fat Gripz and Monster Mini Bands from Elite Fitness. I’ve been waiting for these for a few weeks and was jumping up and down like a kid on Christmas when the came yesterday. We used the Fat Grips for almost every exercise today which really jacked up my forearms. The idea of Fat Gripz is the make the bar or dumbbell much thicker which increasing the use of your grip and arms for the exercise thus making them bigger and stronger. Fat Gripz at the real deal very well made.
We worked out at 7 am this morning which is always a project. I woke up at 6:55 ran outside and my roommate was parked behind me. It was freezing out so I had to scrape the ice off my roommates car so I would crash it when moving it… I could care less about the ice on my car so I didn’t scrape it and then I got half way down the road and realized I didn’t put my contacts in and couldn‘t se anything… SH*T.. Got out of my car on Rt 9 and scraped all the windows. Arrive in the parking lot lean over to grab my gym bag its not there.. SH*T again… I left it outside while I was ice scraping my roommates car.. Got back to the gym and it is now 7:35. FINALLY got to working out and someone who was running the track kept waving to me.. NO contacts… sry to whoever you were because Im blind as hell and felt like a jackass giving that little half ass wave gesture you give people when you 1. don’t know who they are or 2. You don’t really like them but you fake wave to be nice
Now to the workout:

Dynamic Warm up
Jump Rope

DB Snatch
3 warm up sets
60 X 5
65 X 4
75 X 3

Speed Bench w/Fat Gripz 165 X 5 sets X 3 reps
Alternating Incline DB Bench w/Fat Gripz 50X12, 65X10, 70X8
Bench Dips 2 sets
Plyo Push Ups between Benchs 3 sets

Standing One Arm Press w/Fat Gripz 2 sets
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoBkZJWhNto
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7g3atyUcmQ

One Arm Smith Bench 2 set
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pp8sDqAIsjU

Plate Rear Delt Rasies 2 set
Band Upright Rows 3 set

Band Pushdowns 3 sets
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3UKcKoEWU3o

After typing this I realize there are a lot of long ass names in this workout. Hopefully the videos an clear some things up…If you got 5 min watch this video... I rather lose by 100 then lose like this...

Dreams and New Video -Push Press & Chin ups

“Suddenly realizing that your room keys are on your desk as you close your door shut, is one of the most frustrating things ever.”

I have done this twice now this week. You’d think I’d learn the first time. I hate when I lock my keys in the car too…

As most of you already know, I have dreams of running my own company and opening my own warehouse gym. I want to specifically focus on strength athletes but my gym would really be open to anyone who just wants to be stronger and not be stuck doing the same routine and using the same boring equipment at a health club.

I’ve created this blog to get my name out in the strength community and to learn everything I can about putting content out on the internet, which I’m still very new too. I’m just learning how to edit videos, increase traffic, and how to write to keep people generally interested. Over winter break I hope to get start writing a business plan, come up with a company name/logo, write some articles, contact the top coaches in strength, and start a website. If anyone is or knows someone who is into website design or graphic design please contact me on here, facebook, or at zoomassfitness@gmail.com .

I’d really like to get my website up by the end of January if possible. I’d just like to thank everyone who reads and visits my blog and please don’t be afraid to leave a comment. Also if anyone has any gym equipment at home that they don’t want that just collecting dust hit me up… Ill take whatever you got plates/dumbbells/ bars/ ect…ill be needing it in the future. And look for my first article ill be posting it on here soon….Enough BS about me lets get to today workout….

High Pull w/ Video

We did this workout Tuesday but haven?t gotten a chance to post it until tonight. I?m pretty excited cuz my buddy Wes and his training partner Ryan are going to be joining Kevin and I at the meet this February. The more people the better, and this also means 2 more people to train with and to learn from. So for the next 3 days ill be training at home which kinda sucks but if you know what your doing you can workout anywhere with anything for equipment. I do have a Prowler tho, so ill be using that thing every day due to the massive amount of extra calories ill be consuming. Some times its good to change it up and use different bars, exercise, and machines. Here?s what we got done on Tuesday?.

Dynamic Warm up
Jump Rope

High Pull
5 warm up sets
205 X 3
225 X 3
225 X 3
I wish I had brought straps was suppose to do 235 for 3 but I just couldn?t keep my grip

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lV-P8sRq-as

Speed Squats 155 + Green Band X 4 Set X 5 Reps
Front Squats 135 X 10/ 155 X 6/ 185 X 10! ( this sucked real heavy)
Single Leg RDL?s 2 sets
GHRs 2 sets
Landmines 2 sets

Wes was doing a Max Effort squat today at the gym so I got a video of it? This was his last set with 440 on the bar. Pretty good depth maybe and inch high but will def crush this weight at the meet?.

Body Weight Exercises and A Special Note

I have recently been doing some type of body weight exercise every morning when I wake up regardless what I worked out or will be working out at the gym. Sometimes we all say away from the basics and try to get to complicated. This change comes after reading Zach Even-Esh?s blog who focuses a lot on basic bodyweight exercises and made a lot of great points about training with them. Since Wednesday is my GPP/off day I decided to do a bunch of body weight stuff which only took about 30 min but it kicked my ass?

Bench Dips 100 Reps
Feet on Bench Push Ups 75 Reps
OH Lunges 50 reps
Med Ball Twists 100 reps
Mountain Climbers 100 Reps
Kneeling Med Ball Clean and Press 100 reps
One Leg Squats to Bench 50 Reps
Step up 100 Reps
Band Push Ups 50 Reps
Lay On Floor and Suck Air - 1 Rep

I found out one of my favorite teachers EVER in High School is fighting AML- Acute Myelogenous Leukemia . From what I?ve heard she is doing very well and she is in my thoughts and prayers. If you know or had Lera Dishington or aka MATER as we always called her (which means mother in Latin) visit her blog at http://leradishington.com/ and send her a message. I?m sure shed love to hear from you. There are a ton of great stories about Maters class but here are a few of my favorites:

I one time wore her Kashmir sweater ( mind you I was 260lbs in high school) and her new winter glove all class? She got mad eventually and made me give them back.. I did but I hid them on top of the file cabinet so she couldn?t find them hahaha she was very mad the next day

We convinced her every class to play some awful Sparta movie by telling her we hadn?t watched it yet? we started that movie from the beginning prob 10 classes in a row before she figured it out

I one time gave one of my classmates a huge wedgie and I ripped his underwear and she just sat at her desk and giggled hahahah

great times in Latin class damn do I miss it

Houston was up 17 nothing to start the game, idoits? excited for the Pats tomorrow night tho playing the Undefeated Saints should be a great game hopefully we don?t go for in on 4th and 2 again. I worked out thing morning when I woke up and again at 8 tonight. I?ve been testing out the bodyweight exercises and damn I didn?t realize how hard or bad I am at them. I worked out right in my room here a school and was sweating like hell. An handstand push ups against the wall suck! I am determined to get 10 of these and then try to do them without the wall.
