rofl 230k a year as a pilot..... wtf are you smoking? Do you even know the salary caps of a federal employee....? I don't even know what rank you stop flying but even the MILREP at NATO, a ADMIRAL doesn't make over 200k a year....

do what ever one you would be more happy doing, they both make fine salaries. i dont think you should ask the teenmisc for there oppinion because then you would be picking the one that would 'impress' more people and it wouldnt be for yourself.

i want a wife, 2-3 kids. my hours will be good as a pilot as i am natl guard and we fly maybe 3-4 times a week.. my base protects the entire west coast from the air, so not much danger is present except in training missions and drug plan intercepts...

I can't make your life decisions for you but I will put this in. I have been considering military but recently i have thought about considering a path with more money, not because I'm selfish and hungry for money but because I care about my family and friends allot and know that if they ever got in trouble I would want to to write a check out and be at there side. But I know with military comes great respect, structure (which I love) and the knownledge of knowing that unemployment is a nonexistant word when your in mil, literally jobs everywhere to keep you busy. I'm in this dilema to, idk what I would do to get rich but I KNOW I'm smart enough to do it.

I agree with him totally. (Didn't read past that post, so I don't know if you answered that or not)
But either job is enough money to live. Do what you think you would enjoy most.

Then again I guess it also depends on when you're willing to settle down and have a family and what not.
If you intend on getting married and starting a family anytime soon, you'll probaby be better off as an ortho. I think you'd live more comfortable with that choice in more than one ways.

Unless you pull the wrong tooth?

Ah, well since you gave me honesty, then I'll give you honesty:
I honestly think you'll have a better overall life as an Ortho. Don't get me wrong, it'd be badass being a fighter pilot, but for how long? It seems like it'd be a time-demanding job, and also risks outweigh everything else. As an orthodontist you'll make loads of money, have a nice house/cars, support your whole family, and make more than your father.
Do ortho bro.

ya i think your right man. ill make the decesion when i have my degree in 3 years or so. But the respect i would get as a pilot would be insane. i know several personally as family friends, they are like gods no joke. I would be a pilot until about age 45-50. then i would just be a colonel or brigadier general on my base as commander
+ i can have a job outside of being a pilot cus the guard is part time... it just wouldnt be a super high paying job. perhaps a banker or something of that sort, cus my dad is in the bank industry.

Well, atleast you still have a good chunk of time to decide everything, definatly a plus.
A lot can change in three years, thought-wise.

money shouldn't' be that big of an issue, we live in a 5 bedroom 3 bathroom house 10 minutes from the ocean on a 60k/year salary

ortho income at 1mil? i highly doubt that. if you want to live a more relaxed lifestyle go with ortho, if you want a more intense and fun lifestyle go with pilot. i cant decide for you though.
edit: do you have any experience on the careers? because ive been working with my dad since i was 10 or so and already know his business, which is private investment in real esate, inside and out for the most part, and i plan on running many of our investments when i finish with college. and i am solid on my career choice.

i'd say ortho, if you get good enough you could easily make $150k+ a year (as you said). as stated before, being a pilot would be awesome everyday and you would get respect, but i still say ortho. if i was a wife or child (oh lawd strong visualization) i'd worry every mission about something happening, just something to remember for the future.
plus, being a swole ortho = pretty epic. especially one who competes.

I mean everyone has different interests I guess I just don't see the enjoyment in working with people's mouths doing the same thing every single day. Flying a jet for a career would bring so much more life experience.

plus, being a swole ortho = pretty epic. especially one who competes.

ya, your right man. its just somehting that when the time comes to choose, it will be a though one. i would do both but the pilots training takes too much time and i would be flying too much to be able to continue with school

my ortho has over 5,000 patients being treated right now. he makes 800k a year and is a close family friend and neighbor.

that ortho has a big business set up. dont count on that, though it is slightly possible. avg ortho would make 100-200, unless your lucky and score a big business.
