So these two guys tried to start a fight with me in the gym...
Because I offered to show them how to deadlift with the correct technique. Their backs were constantly bent over, feet about 5 inches apart and pointing in a way even I didn't know was possible.
When I tried to show them, they both flexed (two lanky dudes about 160) and approached me and asked "you wana go"?
They may of misinterpreted what I said, but I got so ****ed off. Needless to say i havn't seen them since thank god.
Never thought that would happen, but spose that's what you get at college gyms.
Anyone else had that happen to them?

Well it depends on how bad their form is and how he approached them.
If he said something like, 'If I could give you a few pointers' theres no reason to get angry.
But if he approached them saying 'You guys need to learn to deadlift' then the response is expected.
I think the problem here is the OP claims these guys were lanky when he's like a notch above lanky himself. If the OP was 220 10% i'm sure these guys would have loved some pointers. That's just how it works. You need to be absolutely jacked to give random people advice on lifting IRL.

Yeah i agree if OP was at least 220 at 10% than he could probs get away with giving advice as long as he started up a convo with them and then went into talking about deadlift. But lets be realistic here OP is nowhere near 220 and he's like 6'3 so probs not that much bigger than the guys he was giving advice to. Now if your training and someone comes up to you and says 'oh hey bro you got terrible form let me show you how it's supposed to be done', and they're the same size and possibly weaker than you ur probs gona be offended. Even with the big guys they still got to have a good approach otherwise they just come off as know it all jerks.
That's why i say generally unless your friends with someone don't go up to people in the gym and correct their form and tell them what they're doing is wrong. I know it's just trying to be helpful but it just comes across as arrogant.
Thats my opinion take it or leave it.

And this is why you just keep it to yourself. There's no point in helping idiots at the gym because they will take offense. You only want to help friends, or guys who you can tell are always looking to improve. The douchebags that assume they know what they are doing and take offense to anyone who offers a tip are the ones who should throw out their backs from improper form.

A much more blunt way to say what I was going to say lol.
Even as a personal trainer, I see people with bad form at my gym all the time - but I let them stick with it. The only people I offer help to are my friends at the gym just because people get offended easily when form and such is corrected. It just feels uncomfortable to have someone come up to you and tell you you're doing it wrong and you need to do it their way. Especially if you think you're in good shape already.

OP: lesson learned, I hope? Never offer to help *anyone* if they haven't asked you for help first. The road to Hell is paved with good intentions.
Besides, you missed out on all the fun of watching their spines snap and shoot through their upper backs from their $hitty form.
