(The replay official) is probably looking at a monitor that's 5 or 6 years old and doesn't have all the technical advantages that we purchase for ourselves."
Just going to leave this here.. a tribute to SEC refs
Block in the back on Julio's TD is bogus.
Clearly shows the defender runs right by Carpenter and takes a bad angle after the supposed "BITB." If there really was a block in the back, the defender would've been pushed right into Julio. Instead he cuts left upfield. Nice try.
On Deaderick's spear, McClain is being held in the same frame. Penalties would offset.
Pick probably was a pick. Just a bad field call, and not enough evidence AT THE TIME to overturn.
On Hitt facemask, it was completely unintentional. Hitt jerks his head and it causes Dareus's hand to slide up into Hitt's chinstrap. "Incidental"...just like the two PI's that weren't called on LSU earlier in the game.
Edit: Check out the LSU player facemasking Williams
On the mismarked play after the roughing the punter...ball was off by a foot and some change. Center actually picks the ball up and it goes forward another foot before he snaps. This is when that pic is taken. Play goes for 2 yards however, so even if marked correctly, that's one yard more than Bama needed.
On the false start, the video angle from the sideline shows it better. He flinches (very little I must admit) but from the side its visible. That was a horrible angle.
On the facemask, on Maze's huge catch early in the game, Chad Jones reaches around Maze's helmet and grabs him by front of helmet and mask. No call. I'm not an advocate of two-wrongs don't make a right...but seems like they cancelled out each other. Both plays were significant positive yardage for the offense anyways.
edit: Here you go
Hope that addressed all.
I also pointed out that on LSU's side of the ball, they managed a huge block in the back on Barron for a big play, a holding on Kareem Jackson in the redzone (ball carrier came right at him too), and Lyle Hitt punches Brandon Deaderick in the back of the head after Deaderick turns his back. Hitt also facemasks Deaderick during the same play.
Player holding Terrence Cody
I'm sure the both of us could sit here and pick out missed calls all day long.

I'm not real good at the video editing ****, but if you could tell me how to do it, I'd be happy to make clips of the plays I mentioned.

I didn't, Arrakis from td.com did. There were definitely calls that went both ways. But there were a ton that were pretty damn obvious.
Two of those pics you posted were definitely penalties, this one wasn't though. Nobody is grabbin the facemask.
Hand on facemask. It's about as much of a penalty as Fanney's "facemask" last year in the SEC CG. Without that call, Gators didn't convert and I believe they turn it over or face a long 4th down. Past is in the past however.

It's still a block in the back. Carpenter clearly made contact with him, regardless of how little "push" he got. We see kicks brought back for hits like that all the time.

Wasn't holding. This was looked at on TD. The picture against Cody was definitely holding, it illegally impeded his movement. But he did not impede McClains movement.. so no hold.

There are no incidental facemasks any more, though. It woulda been 15 yards and an automatic first down.

But would have you guys gone for it if it was 4th and a yard like it should have been.. isntead of 4th and inches? Or would you have punted. Regardless of the outcome it was a very favorable spot on a penalty..

It's when he flinches though, the ball looks like it was being moved by the center. That was a killer penalty too, We converted it and were in Bama territory. Would have locked up a FG at least (provided it wasn't blocked by the mountain)

All except..
(random facemask that went uncalled, on 4th and 5 IIRC?)
and
(Didn't give us the first down, had to punt. Lulz, watch the ref walk backwards from the initial spot.)

Yeah, I hear ya man. That doesn't make them good calls though. Got a clip of that face mask? I'm compiling a giant list of bad calls in the SEC over the last 2 years or so. Just want to clarify that I'm not attacking Bama in any way.. those players were the beneficiaries of poor officiating, not the cause.
I personally don't think we could have recovered from so many critical injuries. I think I even mentioned that in the game thread.

No...it isn't. Him touching the defenders back had no bearin on the defender. The reason the defender had to cut, was because Carpenter is so large. Carpenter could've put his hands straight up in the air and it would've had the same effect. You're arguing for the most nit-picky of calls now. That defender screwed himself. Quit arguing for something that just isn't there.

Jersey in hand impedes McClain's movement. Holding.

Then we should've got 15 yards and a first down...as should you guys. Like I said earlier, both plays were conversions into opponents territory.

Ask Saban. It was late enough in the game so I'd think so. I agree, the spot was off though.

I'm telling you, from the side angle you see movement before the snap. You can't see it because the movement is in line with the camera angle, and at that distance, you just can't see it correctly. Get a better angle. You'll see.

It keeps going. That's just the only pic available. His hand is already on the facemask.

Agreed it was a facemask, inserted pic of facemask by LSU.

Bad spot. Maybe the yellow line was off...maybe the refs weren't paying enough attention. I get the feeling that the refs saw Jefferson cut back, and for some reason spotted the ball at where he was tackled instead of forward progress. Fukked up.

Bama fans really aren't making a whole lot of clips. We won...so I guess they don't feel the need.
If I knew how to legally make clips of this footage I'd do it myself, but as of now, all I can say is go back to SEC Digital Network and find the play in the game film. The facemask is there. At least as much as it was in the SEC CG.

Yeah. Phantom face masks I can't wait till the next time Bama/LSU plays. There's actually a small chance that LSU makes it to the sugar bowl even if Bama goes undefeated
If LSU wins out, Sugar Bowl doesn't like taking the loser of the SECCG.

This was actually one of the mad hatters better coached games.. I've gained some respect for them and feel like if they played this same type of game against FL that they probably would have won.. It is all in the past at this point.. I watched Saturday's the game and feel like even if every call goes LSU way, the outcome of the game would have ended the same.
Also, BAMA shot themselves in the foot on two plays that could have easily been TD's... McElroy missed a wide open Juilo in the endzone.. AND the play where we had the ball 3rd and goal and were flagged with 12 men on the field with Mount Cody in the backfield. If we don't shot ourselves in the foot this game might have been a blowout.

how about the reverse to GMac where he missed a wide open Smelley downfield?!?!?! yes mad lol.

I didn't read through this thread, but it looks like a total "cry-off" between bmy and cal, with bmy (the loser) crying the most.
watch yourself.
jk
but this isn't crying, it's "game analysis" lol

After watching the replay of the whole game tonight on a legit television, I saw a couple things that caught my eye.
That hold, happens to be on LSU's 2nd touchdown, and Cody is unable to wrap up because he has a lineman clearly holding him, and anchoring him down. Ridley (LSU runningback) makes contact with Cody, but Cody is hindered by that hold. If there ever was a hold that should've been called, that's it. This play, IMO, is as critical as the Peterson pick controversy.
Which leads me to my next point, one of the angles shows Jones and Peterson making contact with the ball simultaneously. It's my understanding that if there is simultaneous contact, preference is given to offensive player. Since offensive player was out of bounds, the ball was dead. The pick is a non-issue (since the game's over it's a non-issue anyways, but now I no longer look at is as a screwjob). I'm convinced Peterson's feet were in bounds however.
