Hey, remember Desiree Jennings? The aspiring NFL cheerleader who was crippled by dystonia after she got a flu shot? Well, it turns out that her condition is most likely psychogenic, has nothing to do with a flu shot whatsoever, and now she?s going through a ?miraculous? recovery at the hands of a quack doctor who has in the past injected his patients with urine.

But long story short: stupid people ? in this case, the practitioners and adherents of pseudo-science or those who fear medical vaccines ? win again. They always win. But if there?s a silver lining here (besides Desiree recovering, that is), it?s that we can finally laugh at her Inside Edition story set to ?Walk it Out? completely free of guilt. It?s the little victories.
We had a lecture on her when this first came out and my neuroscience teacher told us that she was bull****ting.

It was fake.
BUT, it may have been a psychosis, so she may have worked herself into a state where she thought it was real. And if that had happened then she would have been acting like this without realizing that she was faking. That is why fake treatment can work so long as she thinks the treatment is real and thinks that the treatment always works.
