It'd be great to have him back but I can't blame him if he retires. He's got a wife and kids and the opportunity to go out as a champion.

Bay is solid but for some reason I just don't see him fitting in well. I would stay as far away from Holliday as possible, he's said he doesn't want to play in NY. Seems like a disaster waiting to happen.

Just heard Philly's still interested in Halladay. That'd be a scary team w/ him and Lee at the top.

one of my buddies is a writer for the hardballtimes and a phillies blog site
heres his write up of the phills offseason expectations.. if youre bored its a good read, big piece on halladay...
We were talking about how either victorino or werth could be off the team within 2 years because and how bringing in chone would replace them in the batting order, with michael taylor filling their hole, a trade of either one of them for halladay isnt that far fetched

So youre ignoring something written by someone with vastly more baseball knowledge than you, who is offering insight into what will happen this year, on an issue a yankees fan brought up about the phillies.. because they root for a different team.. There are not a lot of teams vying for him. Remember halladays no trade clause? and only a few of those teams have the prospects to make a legit offer, phillies being one. JA Happ, Brown/Taylor, and another low grade prospect or 2 will most likely get it done.
manuel made the right choice with pedro, our 2nd best pitcher.. I could easily post a pic of girardi calling him a typical newyork guido and whose an idiot that wears hats that are to big for his head, but i wont

the offseason HAS started. teams are already making signings and setting up for next year. and yankees are already favored by vegas, second is red sux.
my point on hughes is that i'd like to see him get another shot at starting. i definitely see him as a starter, not a setup man.
i disagree on bay. he can hit and is solid in the field. plus he kills us, would rather have him on our team. and ok, if not him, still want a stud outfielder who is a strong combo of batting/fielding.

Jason Bay is 31, he will only start to decline. Go for some young talent

No teams have made any signings so far, they're not allowed to until the 19th. I don't care what Vegas says, the rosters are no where near what they're going to look like when the season starts.
As far as Hughes goes he should be given another shot but he's already proven 2 years in a row that he can't handle it. He's still only 24 next year so he's got time to turn it around but he is really limiting his opportunities, especially considering how dominant he was in the pen. If he goes out there and get bombed every time, I think its safe to say his days in the Yankee rotation are done.

He could decline you never know but 31 is not old. What is it 28 - 35 that are normally the prime years in baseball? having a guy for 4-5 years that is good is a good deal. Get a young guy and he may not even be a good player for a few years.
Having said all that Idk if I'd sign him.

I'm feeling the Lackey thing.......I hate him, cause he's good. He's a good fit, he can handle NY and he doesn't put many runners on base......
I say do it. Cause Boston is probably going to get Halladay.....Beckett is no longer a #1 type guy....matching him against C.C. is a losing situation for them......they need a #1 to start against out #1.....(in b4 NDAME)

Just to clear up possible confusion, Halladay not going to Boston.
He has a list of teams that he does not want to play for and a preferred list and it has been said he does not want to play for Boston.

You've got it mixed up bro -
"Meanwhile, WEEI.com's Rob Bradford reports that Roy Halladay has identified the Red Sox as a team he'd be willing to accept a trade too. Doc has a full no-trade clause. "

so youre ignoring reason and common sense, a phillies writer would have more insight on about the Halladay situation on him coming to philly, when halladay coming to philly was brought up by a yankees fan..
Pedro has been better than Cole for the half of the season he was here and the playoffs, cole would of got the start on game 7 but with him acting like a queen the entire post season it seems pretty cut and dry
