How do college athletes afford food and other expenses when they leave the campus?
okay, so i know these guys are basically the kings of the campus and have all of their whims taken care off, but what do they do when they're off campus?
say they go to KFC, how do they afford to pay if they aren't given money by the college?

When athletes receive their Escalades there's usually stacks of cash in the glove compartment.

When athletes get their houses, there's usually gold bars sitting in the kitchen.

Some of them may have a job on Sundays. A few have very wealthy parents. Many are on scholarships, allowing their parents to pay for other stuff besides school. I'm sure some of the females sell their bodies in some form or another.

Wrong.
Athletes get Denali's, not Escalades!

i just read it on rivals somewhere. someone posted a letter to a recruit and in that letter they described what a full scholarship included
-full tuition
-free housing
-meal plan
-free books
-a stipend
-various performance incentives (like 50K for being conference player of the week)
(that might be it)

From personal experience (not a college athlete) but we use to have quite a bit of Ohio state Football players work for us back in the late 90's, they would like work a couple hours a day if that, and boosters would workout everything. Good players would get almost anything they wanted.
Some of the players were David Boston, Ny'all Diggs, and some others.

Athletes on full scholarship get roughly $850 a month for living off campus. In most places, that leaves close to $450-500 a month for things other than rent/utilities. They still have access to the training table to, so food shouldnt be an issue.

They get checks from boosters, coach nutt would hook you up with anything anytime. Coach petrino gives one a month.
I know they have summer jobs at resturaunts (sp). Here a lot of us worked at bizy's. Like an upscale hamburger place lol.

this. And if players live together, they split the cost of housing...so they have more money.
And we would get a different place to cater to us everyday after practice. Catfish hole, charlies chicken, noodles, jasons deli, steak n shake, bizy's.

At big schools like USC, FLorida, OSU the star athletes get what ever they want, you think they play by the rules. Funny how Bennie Wells of Ohio State would drive around in a decked out Brand new Hummer H2, this was like his Soph year too, and his parents are not rich.

this.
even athletes at smaller colleges and JC's get this.
considering most of their meals are taken care of at campus, as well as their housing, and books, $500 a month is incredibly easy to live on.

A lot of us work around campus. I work at the Rec center and I literally just sit there and do my homework, make sure there's clean towels and then will walk around and rack weights on occasion.
Last year I worked at the Student disability center and I literally just sat at the front desk and instructed people how to sign in.
There's always money left over from off campus housing and there's a lot of spoiled rich kids from the small towns that we can bum off of.

Derrick Rose, CDR, and a few other players from the Memphis NC Runner Up team use to "work for FedEx". Aka they would come in for 2 hours a week and get paid a good bit over the average weekly salary
