With how much he runs, he'll need to replace them a lot sooner. It's all about the miles put on them.
Didn't you say you liked RPGs? Get Dragon Age and play that while resting!

Sorry to hear about the injury; a lot of times I have tweaked something like that and it was fine a short time after so just monitor it. Is Dragon Age that good? I've been hearing a lot about it. I rented FEAR 2 yesterday but have yet to play it; the first one was awesome, though.

Ugh, sorry to hear about that bad newz dude. Best of luck to getting better. Holyspokes gives great advice along with IndianForeigner. As well you could switch it up to someother form of training for a bit, such as cycling (if you have a bike) or stationary bike if you can withstand the boredom of it lol. But if it starts to hurt even during that, id suggest just giving it a few days for rest.

Meh, I dont really run for cardio but thats what I call it so it really wouldnt make since to switch up to something else. I use running as a form to compete and get better at.
Lower
Deadlifts
6X275 (6 Sets)
Front Squats
6X145 (6 Sets)
DB BSS
10X40 (3 Sets)
Running
10 Miles
First few sets of Deadlifts were smooth but by set 5 I was feeling it. Im pleased how my reps are going with 2 plates and a quarter. With Front Squats I was messing with different foot positions and I get better MMC with my legs about shoulder width. DB BSS was a nice way to finish everything off. Sticking with the basics on this one.
Knee has been bothering me on and off. It was hurting a little in the beginning of the run but after getting some blood flowing it felt better. After the run it was fine and then it started hurting, then went away. Felt fine during Squats and now its starting to bother me again. It comes and goes and feels really weird. Its getting me pretty pissed because it held me back from a try at a 10 mile time PR. I also havent gone on a really long run since last week.

Well im not saying as a form of cardio, i as well run for competition, but i also throw in cross-training regularly each week. Such as i'll do hill-sprints running, but then as well as intervals on stair's or a bicycle. Also i do Jump-Training/Plyometrics once a week as well.

Great session considering the tenderness in the knee. Definitely look into new shoes if these ones are nearing your usual replacement point; if I remember correctly you've been running longer distances lately so perhaps that is wearing them down prematurely.

At the Half Marathon, I spoke with Jeff Gallaway, who is a very famous runner, and one of the subjects was shoes. One of my friends was having shin splints, so Jeff recommended that he go with a pair that compliments your stride. He said if you take longer strides, it increases the odds of you getting splints or cause some knee pain. I recall you wanting to take longer strides to increase your speed, so this pain could be a side effect of you transitioning your running style. I'm not quite sure what you mean by "wrong step" though. Did you step in a pothole or have a spill on some slick mud while running?

Great Workout man, looks like a solid session. I think you need to take things easy for your knee -- you could tear something and that would be tragic. Be very cautious.

I agree with stinky.
Sorry to hear about the knee though mate.
Better to make the decision to rest your knee, than be forced to rest your knee.
Perhaps hop on the bike this week for cardio for a change? Might be easier on the knee aswell?

I was actually suprised that you did a leg workout given that you have bung knee - maybe best to give it a break for a week or so. Front's a bit more knee friendly than back squats.
Btw...great sesh on the wheelz

It was just a wierd step. Kind of like one where you would twist you ankle. I havent had shin splints in like 3 years.

I surprised myself. Suprisingly no pain during Fronts but BSS kinda aggrivated it a tad.
Running
19.4 Miles
Haha, wow! I didnt think I would be able to do one of these this week with the knee problems. It really didnt bother me during the run but it was tight. I cant believe ive actually never brought up my past knee problems. Its not like this is a new thing for me. Ive had knee problems since I was like 10. I think some people in hear know that my life from like 5-16 was all Baseball. I was a Catcher and Pitcher. The knee problems are related to all the Catching I did. Im really surprised that im as good of a runner now because of all the Catching and most Catchers are the slowest on the field. I was one of the slowest on the field and then I got into Track and I got quicker and quit Baseball. I was a much superior Pitcher but I cant Pitch every game. I batted .419 in my final season in Varsity though.
Anyways, the run. I was surprised how quick I was able to do this. Hills were intense and speed was kept up throughout. Knee tightness hurt my stride a bit. Downhills were actually the hard parts because thats when my knees gave me problems as there is more banging in that area because of how hard youre hitting the surface.
I must say, once of the best feelings in the world is feeling glycogen depleted and then putting some calories down and actually feeling yourself become energized again. It literally feels orgasmic. It was freezing out there and the wind and cold sweat didnt help at all. I had a scoop of chocolate whey with some milk and a couple packets of Swissmiss Hot Cocoa and I felt the stores being refilled. I microwaved it though so the protein was denatured.

If heat denatures protein, then I probably only take in about 50g a day since I nuke everything to the max, lol.

Good to hear the knees didn't bother you. I'm actually surprised you're as fast as you are with your baseball history, lol. Catching is the awful for your knees, hence why most catchers are so slow rounding the bases. I'm surprised you quit though being so talented. I mean... .419? that's Ted Williams stuff right there.

Ted Williams played over 100 games, I only played like 18. I think I just hit a little hot streak.
Push
DB Bench Press
6X65 (6 Sets) PR!
Incline Bench
8X115 (3 Sets) PR!
Standing Military Press
8X65 (4 Sets)
CGBP
10X95 (3 Sets)
I wanted to switch things up again and I switched to DBs. 65s felt good for the first couple sets but then the last 2 were pretty difficult. I think I may go too slow on the way down but I get excellent TUT. Inclines were a nice surprise after heavy pressing. I was super strict on the MPs. The last few sets were grinders but they hit the Delts real nice. CGBP was a nice easy way to finish the Tris as they were already beat from previous pressing.
Dammit, no running today. Knees were feeling it today. Now its more my left then the right. I got new shoes though and I cant wait to try them out. Back to my favorites, Asics.

I already bought the shoes. I got them from a Sports Authority near me and I just found that site to display to you guys.
Yeah, my environment different. No treadmill and freezing cold. I was pissed yesterday because it was 67 yesterday and I really couldnt go run obviously.

Thanks for the support bro. Ive got the new shoes and I lifted and walked around with them yesterday and they were definately better on the knees. The impact wasnt being absorbed in my older shoes. These new ones feel like im walking on clouds.

Pull
Pullups Wave Loading
8XBW
5XBW+25
3XBW+35
-X2-
T Bar Rows
10X3 Plates (3 Sets) Rep PR!
Hang Pull/Shrug
15X185 (3 Sets)
Preacher Curls
8X55 (3 Sets)
Running
13.8 Miles
Nice set of waves. Focused on driving my chest to the ceiling on Pullups. Locked in a full 3 sets of 10 on T Bar Rows. Traps and Bis were killed by the last 2 exercises and so were my formarms. Glad to mix things up with the Wave Loading. Solid MMC throughout the whole session.
I got to try the new shoes today. Knees were hurting a bit but it wasnt being caused by the running, it was just the pain from the prior runs. Its actually funny that after the run and even now I havent felt any pain since. Maybe new shoes did the trick. I had a hard time though because my stride wasnt as great because of the knees. It was an exhausting run because I was pushing harder to go faster to make up for loss of stride so I took alot more steps out there.

Nice work on the T-Bars!
Your knee situation sounds very similar to my left shoulder. Give it time and it should go down. Hopefully the new shoes will compliment your stride a tad better once they are broke in!

Yeah, over time the knees have been healing.
Lower
Front Squat
12X115
10X135
8X145
5X165 PR!
3X175 PR!
1X185 PR!
Snatch Grip Deadlifts
8X245 (2 Sets) PR! +2 reps
6X245 (2 Sets)
Reverse BB Lunges
10/legX125 (2 Sets) PR! +2 reps
6/legX155 (2 Sets) PR!
Running
8.6 Miles in 51 minutes PR!
Worked up to a 1RM and hit a plate and a quarter. Im kinda disappointed thought because my Front Squats were even with my Bench at one point but now my Bench is a little ways ahead in weight. Rep PRs on Snatch Grip Deadlifts but the last 2 sets were grinders so stopped at 6. Im loving BB Reverse Lunges right now.
My running was solid today. I didnt know I was moving that quick but when I was done and looked at the clock I was amazed. This has been one of my most successful days ever. I may either do a pure running day tomorrow or if im sore tomorrow ill take today completely off.
