Volcanoes to split Africa: scientists
Volcanic activity may split the African continent in two and create a new ocean, say scientists.
Two volcanic eruptions in September 2005, which produced a 60-kilometre split in north-eastern Ethiopia, have enabled scientists to further examine the earth's tectonic movements.

Why are liberal scientists using my STOLEN tax dollars to study this garbage? If the free market wanted African plate tectonics studied it would do it itself!! 
This is just a power grab and a government take over of geophysics by Obama.

It's been known for years that Africa is splitting. The process is what caused and is causing the Great Rift Valley. It runs the length of East Africa to the Red Sea, the Jordan Valley and into Lebanon. Madagascar once once part of the African plate but separated first. Pretty fascinating.
