Order of Lifts in SS?
I have been reading about Rippetoes program on the forums. He may state this in his book, which I do not have, but is there any particular reason that he puts Deadlifts on the day after Bench instead of Power Cleans. I guess what I am asking would it matter if you reversed the deads and cleans so that it looked like this:
Squat
Bench
Power Clean
Squat
Press
Deads
I am just curious.
Thanks

If your following a program it's usually best to sick with with how it was set up.

I always find it funny that someone goes through all the trouble of setting up a diet or workout plan, someone reads through it and wants to switch something up. Well, can I switch this? Can I eat that?
NO!!!
Follow the damn directions.

I don't see how it would make much difference.

I don't see the point but no it does not make any difference
it's important to alternate the pressing excercises..

Seriously get the book!!!!
I don't see how that little flip flop would make much of a difference either. Although perhaps the overhead pressing might make a better warm-up for the cleaning to follow than the bench. Or possibly have the major movers of the chest already exhausted from bench pressing might make the clean more likely to lead to injury if your form slips and you try to save it. These are just possibilities off the top of my head.
Another reason for the exercise order is because they exercises are done basically in teaching order. The first lift to learn is the squat, then learn the bench press and if there is time learn the deadlift the same day. That leaves the relatively simple press to learn before you spend a long session working on the Power clean. Sometimes the outine is set-up in a logical teaching order as much for the coach as for the needs of the trainee.
