I go there annually to snowboard, but never have I gone for beer. I would of course check out the more historical scenes this time around since it's for a different business.

CO has some bad ass breweries. Flying Dog and Avery top my list. Breckenridge 471 is pretty good. Lagunitas has a good brew or 2. I reviewed one on here in this tread. Some east coast brewers to look for are Dogfish Head, Ommegang and Brooklyn. I can't remember were Allagash is but they put out some great brews.

I love Flying Dog for Ralph Steadman's artwork. Horn Dog is also quite a tasty BW and the only FD I've tried.
So tonight, going to make my own B&T: Peche Mortel + Corne Du Diable ... combo-translation "Devil's Sin". It will definitely just mix up, but the taste ... hmmm. I'll review it here since I can actually smell & taste now.

Last time I willingly drank it, I think I was 22 and we ran out of the bar without paying anyway, so I still profit!

Hey guys, I'm turning 21 tomorrow and I'm considering buying some alcohol to celebrate. Can you recommend me a brew that would be pretty good? I'm sick of drinking piss beers like natty ice, etc..

I would recommend any beer by Bell's Brewery, probably my favorite brewery in America.

Thanks for the suggestion! Does anyone else have any other beer that they enjoy? I'm looking for something on the heavier side.

Do you have any clue what kind of beer you actually like?
I've never been to the northwest but I think since it's offered in AZ, it could be offered in WA.... Pyramid Brewing Co. I enjoy most of their brews minus the apricot ale or whatever it's called. I also like Fat Tire (can't recall where that's from) though I don't think it's too heavy but I know it is also offered in AZ and Cali
If you like something 'heavy', try to find Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA; it's the bomb shizzle fo sho! It's sold in four packs, I think usually $8-10 per pack but I never pay attention to prices when I buy shyt.

Ah ****, I forgot about Pyramid! I heard they make great beer, especially the hefeweizen (sp?). I have not really had any beers beside the cheap **** that gets you drunk, so I'm not sure what I'd exactly like, but that's why I'm asking for suggestions. I believe that they also have Fat Tire up here too, so I'll have to look into that. Thanks for the suggestions, I will rep you off R/C as well as bobcat.

My suggestion would be to stay away from high % beers like RIS etc when starting off b/c the alcohol can come off very strong when you're just getting use to the beers and you may be turned off by it.
My buddy wanted to try out the Peche Mortel that I was talking about & when he had it he couldn't even finish it. When I first reviewed it I said the alcohol is very evidant, but now I hardly notice it.

Thanks for the tip, it makes sense that the stronger beers would turn people off. Reps as well on R/C.

Def. stay away from high alcohol beers. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is a good starting point into craft beer. But are you worthy of the BASTARD!

Sierra Nevada Estate 1st yr release 2009
Prior to the review I must inject a little history behind this brew. This brew is brewed from all home grown barley and hops at the Sierra Nevada brewery! Grown by beer afficiandos for beer afficiandos!
This beer is the shiznits of shiznits. Picked up a bomber and put into the beer fridge several days ago. Decided today to pop the top. Top was popped and I was immedietly hit by a wafe of hoppiness love. Poured into a pint glass a nice copper hue. Initial smell was love at first sniff. Citrusy hints of peach followed by pine and a very small hint of alcohol. It waste love at first taste. Tasted just like the scents. A touch of citrus peach and orange rind followed by a bare hint of malty smoothness. The depth of this ale then progressed to possibly the most smooth elevation of hops I have ever tasted. It was not this over powering pucker of pine. But a nice ascent to 10,000 ft. and steadily holds into the after taste. The hops then slowly disapate finishing of very very smooth. No alcohol taste what so ever. ABV 6.7% IBU 68. This beer is easily a session IPA!
And I will not appologize for the hugeness of the pic.

Nice picture, but I was referring to the length and size of the base. Way to long to reach the corners.
May just have to give it the old hot water to wash it out cleans all trick.
Getting the Innis & Gunn pack, Bah Humbug and maybe the Affligem pack tomorrow.
Oak Aged IPA from I&G *drool*

Pic of glass. I like to use a long handle brush on mine. My daughters bottle brush works well!
