Fighting someone 60lbs heavier than you!
I've been going kickboxing for a few weeks now, plus I've had a years boxing experience. anyways as in most full contact fighting sports we do sparring (which I enjoy).
We spar after 40 minutes of cardio. We then spar on the matts, changing partners every 90 seconds. There is this 1 guy who weighs about 200lbs (I'm 140lbs), he is about my height, maybe a lil shorter (he's about 20+ I'm 18). Anyways at the start of the round I always tell him to go light on me.
He always seems to crack me in the teeth (gum sheild) pritty hard. to add to the insult I've sprained my wrist so I can't hit hard with my right!
Can any experienced MArtist help!
the only thing I can think of is stay on the back foot and when he gets close kick him in the side of the thigh, when he charges in hit him a few times and then go for a take down (I know there is no takedowns in kikboxing but everyone else is so what the hell).

I think you should go hard with your left hand, and move around him a bit more. Let him get tired, than strike hard.

That's a huge weight difference! You could deck him as hard as you could and still do no damage. I used to spar with bigger guys and IMO it doesn't help at all, especially in boxing. The big guy gets used to pushing around smaller guys, then he gets his ass kicked when he has to fight a guy his own size. Meanwhile, the smaller guy is getting pummeled in training when he shouldn't be getting pummeled!
Why are you being put in the ring with a 200 lber.? Talk to your coach about it.

i actually like fighting the bigger and smaller guys. for some reason i find it doesn't hurt as much to get hit by the bigger guys. maybe because they don't land full on hardly ever because the punches come in slower, but also they don't have the snap of teh smaller fighters, it feels more like a strong push. fighting the smaller guys is great for speed.
anyways, if you're the same height, your not that bad off. keep on your toes and flick your jab off his head, make him move and come at you like a matador, get in two quick shots then move. give him the center of the ring, but make sure your back is never too close to the ropes, and make sure you're moving to your left and your right. if you get tied up go to the body and wear him out.

This is why they have weight classes man, if it really bothers you tell the instructor you would like to fight people closer to your weight (within 30 pounds lets say). 60 pounds is a huge difference.
Don't get hurt, an instructor I know was fighting someone 20 pounds heavier and did a perfect block against a muay thai round kick to the ribs and it broke his arm. People who weight more are a lot stronger and it makes a big difference in kick boxing.
The more muscle they have to hit you with the less muscle you have to block and pad with.

throw a few dumby kicks jump and kick him in the head with a jump 360 reverse spinning kick :P works for me.
but in all serious against heavier opponents u will find u have a distinct speed advantage especially if its a 60 lbs gap. his legs will probably be alot slower than yours, never stop moving... fake, out think the guy

thanx for all of your replies!
I think that if I caught him flat out in the face I'd realy shake him up (If my wrist wasn't sprained), then I could sweep him. Only problem is that when he gets up he'll knock me into next week
should I even be doing kickboxing with a sprained wrist?

protect our freedom bro, but becareful that George Bush is a bit sleezy. Yo weight really makes a difference. I was fighting a guy only 10 pound heavier than me, and a black blet (I'm a brown belt), and he was really taking good care of me. I felt as if I could barely breath, I was so tired, and he blocked everyone of my shots. Maybe it was because he was more experienced than me. Also, I've fought this 240 pounder (I weigh 160), and I find that I'd rather fight him than the 170 pounder, because the punches hurt for a few seconds, but I recover faster because they're slow.

If you catch that ****er with a hook to the liver and uppercut you should drop his ass. Or jab/hook overhand right to the jaw. Just move away from his power hand throw jabs and stay on your toes. If covers his ass well then **** his arms up.

UFC STYLE Street fighting techniques
My suggestion is to grab each of his shoulders pull on the right shoulder push on the left while simultaneously dropping him with a footsweep quickly and efficiently deep in behind him.
If the footsweep fails lure his leg in with yours entangling it and be forceful with your pushing motion on his shoulders exploding on him. It will drop anyone regardless of their weight.

See the UFC 5 or 6 if Im not wrong. The brazilian guy Ruas beat the Polar bear who was like 150 pounds heavier, by kicking his thigh whenever the guy moved in. The guys thigh got super bruised and with one final roundhouse kick, it gave way.
He just couldnt stand up anymore.

That was Marco Ruas VS Paul Varleans, excellent fight. Love the old school MMA.
As for you solid snake, move your head. Slip and hit him in the ribs/liver then immediately circle left and put your right leg through his stomach. Or learn how to deliver your inner thigh kicks with speed and accuracy. I regularly spar with a bigger guy and once I started training up that inner thigh kick he was a little more worried about coming close.

What you need to learn is muay thai kicking. Use the shin and learn to snap the kick and come down with it. Then use that on his stomach. Size means absolutely nothing. Get in the right mindset. You should have better cardio, more speed, and learn to push the pace.

If you know MMA, aim for his hamstring on his alternate foot. Usually when people fight, they have their right hand towards the back and their left hand forward or vice-versa; their left foot should be forward or vice-versa. Aim below the buttocks, but higher than the knee. If you hit it correctly with enough force, he will go down due to a cramp or spasm.
Heavier people have more strength than lighter people, even if you are ripped and can bench whatever amount. However, they are slower so you want to move around as much as you can, use a defensive stance on him instead of offensive because you want your hits to land without getting hit by him (his punches should be stronger).
Due to his large body, hitting him in the shoulder or stomach won't do as much. Aim for the head, obliques, back, and legs.
If you know Brazilian Jujitsu, take him down with a step charge, put him into a side guard, and apply pressure on his chin with your shoulder (if you are holding him correctly).
Hope this helps.
