It's hard to swallow. But for just one minute try to imagine the conclusion you would come to if you were not taught god, and instead you discovered him on your own at this point in your life. Then you will know what it is like to be me. I was free to learn about religion on my own, and make my own decisions, it wasn't taught to me, and the answer is glaringly obvious. It's all bull****.

Once again, I agree. I never asked you to prove God's inexistance in the first place. Just like I have not tried to prove his existance. We're at a standstill, but you seem to be pretty irate.

You forget that the % of the total population that believes in God is HUGE. If all the people who "felt Jesus' presence" and "heard his voice" guiding their lives were sent to arhkam... well, it wouldn't happen because there are a ton of them and (guess what) lots of "believers" are in positions of power (judges/politicians/cops) so I doubt they'd go down without a fight. It'd be like that crazy guy on the subway who yells at invisible voices saying "argh, you can't take me away! I'm not crazy, YOU'RE crazy if you don't hear them!"

Basically the difference between religious belief and delusional beliefs in an imaginary friend comes down to mass approval.

You make a lot of good points. Mass approval is probably number 1 for any situation. If 99% of the world felt it was right to shave their head, any 1% who had hair would be ridiculed.

But that's ok. Why can't you just let me be in the 1% who has hair? Or rather, why can't you just let me shave my head?

He's 21. He doesn't do all of those things, I'll tell you how I feel if that ever happens. As it is, he is a horrible person, I can't stand him. Why is it so difficult for you to accept unconditional love?

Eh, I don't know specific numbers but I'd wager at least half of America is god-fearing and subscribes to some religion. If 2 out of 100 people hear "voices" and follow delusions (imaginary friend telling them to do things), you can bet your ass the other 98 will monitor them carefully and/or put them in an asylum for treatment.

Just curious, a lot of people seem so positive that God isnt real so I would like to hear what they have to say

The real question is what are you gonna do when you've lived a boring life and when you die there is a realization that the place you guys call "heaven" which is also known as "a better place" is a hole in the dirt. Man, it must suck being you. I have a question: Why do christians always say when someone dies, "at least he/she is in a better place?'' They never say, "well he might burn in hell."

This. That's the turn or burn method. Fear of hell is no ticket to heaven. In fact, the want for heaven is no ticket to heaven. It's gotta be like this:

Nope. You're arguing semantics. Call it an "attachment" if it pleases you. Attempt to define Love if it pleases you. I love my brother with all my heart and sole. I always have. I hate the decisions he makes in life, but I love him. Any attempt by you to degrade or slander my love for him will only reflect badly on your part.
