it's a sweet knife, flip open w/one hand, and so far it's worked really well. I used it just for carrying and for opening stuff when i'm working on the farm. so far really happy w/it. got it for 40 bucks

I just ordered a Buck Bantam BHW. I was looking for a larger cheap beater knife. For only $20ish shipping included I figure it is a decent deal. We will see how it actually holds up after being used everyday.

I carry a fixed 6" has a little belt holster... I'm pretty good at throwing it, 20 ft or so.
Its actually a chinese made, really cheap little knife. I spent a lot of time sharpening it, it can shave hair off lol

I carry a Victorinox SwissTool and usually a Spyderco all stainless Endura with a plain edge.
I hate serrated edges.

This is the one I carry occasionaly and use when I go fishing.
Pretty neat knife, glows in the dark aswell which makes it usefull for night fishing. I need to clean it though, I've gutted a fish with it when I forgot my old knife.

I'm not even a knife nut, most of this stuff was issued. The SOG Trident is by far the most used and my favorite...that thing has been through hell with me.
The enormous SOG Seal was good for waving at misbehaving Afghan children, but that's about it. And of course, the Gerber multitool is essential.

Is the lanyard on the swiss army knife made from 550 cord and are you a rigger? Only ask because my shop just issued me that knife a couple of weeks ago.

The reason I carry a knife is pretty much exclusively protection. I work late nights in a semi-dangerous area near downtown full of bars. People that see me closing up the restaurant know I've got at least $100 cash from tips. I've been followed a few times, and almost mugged once.
Plus my ex-girlfriend is crazy and likes to bang her coke dealers.
But yeah, I usually carry my Kershaw. In Alberta there's no blade length law, you just can't conceal it and it can't be use a restricted opening method (Kershaws barely pass this test) such as a spring, inertia, or gravity. You also have to be able to explain why you need it, but SD is an acceptable explanation.

What's a rigger? I made it myself, it's a noose knot(or the knot you find on the sebenza), made from 3mm nylon cord, 550 paracord is like 25bucks for freaking 100ft in Australia.

Gerber Magnum LST Jr., got the junior instead of the full-sized one because it's only 2 3/4" (3" blade max without a good reason here). It's very lightweight, nothing fancy at all, and only runs about $18.
It's a piece of cake to sharpen with one of these:

A tiny little Ken Onion Chive. If I have to use it........it is hair flinging razor sharp. 5 points on the human body can be utilized to shut down the works in less than the hang time for a bag. 2 other points on the body can be accessed, utilized, destroyed and they are nervous system things. We won't go into those.

I carry a silver Bali-Song butterfly knife. I've had it for about 8years now. I have a cheap Kershaw knock of that has spring assisted opening that I also carry. Never had a problem with either.

Nothing in public as its illegal here (bar under 3inch non-lockers if you want to get into a legal minefield)
However when I hunt I carry one of these on my belt for general work;
If im going for a few days i'll take a Kershaw folder backup and a Gerber recoil multitool
