I just kinda yelled at my wife.....
I said it kind in jest but with a serious undertone.
Coming downstairs, after giving showers to 2 of the 4 kids, I start smelling something on my way downstairs.
Sniff Sniff....oh shiz!
"Did you make pillsbury croissants?"
"ummmm no...." chuckle chuckle chuckle...
"Why the heck did you do that?"
"I haven't eaten dinner yet and they sounded good"
"Honey come on, I can resist ALMOST anything, but these pillsbury things are like drugs to me"
"Hey I was hungry, and I wanted them"
"I am not saying you cannot eat what you want, but how about some consideration. It is 8pm and even If I could fit them into my macro's, not at 8pm. I would just be nice if you would take some consideration into what you make, it would be nice. I can resist the candy you put out for the kids, the stuff you serve for deserts or make for dinners, but this is just cruel"
She just laughs....
Gosh, some of you will call me a dick, some will tell me to get a grip, but the fact is this. I am working my arse off to eat correctly and the more I learn WHAT triggers my cravings, it just frustrates me. I know that the strongest sense for me and the hardest one to resist when triggered is smell. So the smell of those croissants is beautiful and painful!
Yeah I know...they are MY cravings....but she knows them, and she just disregards them....
Oh well, just another sign that what I do is for ME, and nobody will EVER care as much about it as I do.....
Oh well.....

normally, I don't advocate yelling at one's spouse but in this case I think it's well justified!!!!

When she laughed I might just have thrown all the croissants right in the trash.
I don't condone wife beating, but every so often something like this reminds me why it was once legal and socially acceptable.

Has this happened a lot of the time?
Yelling isn't a horrible thing.
My parents yell at each other 4 or 5 times a day. It makes me laugh.
But they have been married for 40 years.
So I don't think yelling is a horrible thing if you have found that person you love most to be your spouse and they feel the same way.
I doubt she was doing it to make you struggle.
I'd try to make a joke out of it when and if she does it again.

So she can't make croissants (something she obviously enjoys) because they trigger your cravings? Sorry but when I diet for shows, some of my favorite foods are in my house the entire time. They're kept in my house because my family enjoys them too. Just because I choose not to eat them doesn't mean my family can't have them.

Ok before I get totally beat up. Like I mentioned I didn't YELL at her, I yelled in jest.
Second I did have will power, I didn't have any!
Third, I will never be as strong as you Kimm, I strive for that kind of strength!
In the end she laughed at me, so it is obvious she is not taking me to seriously about it anyway! Lol.

yup yup!!! also, the more you are around all the foods you crave and are able to say no, the stronger the resolve and easier it is to pass this garbage up without any problem whatsoever. the key word here is that you CHOOSE to not eat this stuff, not that you can't have it. big difference in mindset.

My wife did the same thing to me this afternoon......with chinese food.
Came home from work and a visit to the gym and was hit with the aroma of chinese food as soon as I came in the door.
She even bought me a plate knowing full well that I am watching what I eat. ARGH!!
Was difficult, but I somehow resisted the urge to cheat.

I firmly believe that Willpower is a muscle and should be treated accordingly. It must be exercised often and heavily in order for it to increase in size and strength. Like the OP and DungeonMistress have done.

You weren't abusive & she was kind of insensitive, but not in a malicious ( more like delicious) way.
My dad sold Pillburys & we always had the slightly outdated stuff in the house; the croissants, dinner rolls, cinnamon, turnovers (with drizzle on frosting), the cookies etc. Amazing I wasn't a 400lb kid or adult. Save the 100% will power for weeks from a comp.

Nah, I would never be abusive. Once again I will repeat what I said in the original post.....it was an anger-jest.
I am actually laughing at myself now that a simple smell would drive me that nuts. It is fascinating and actually has made me very interested in wondering HOW that works.
I have been looking stuff up on the net to figure out why that is and how to combat it in the future (otherwise then just will power :P ) I truly believe that conquering ones mind and body is the hardest and most satisfying thing!
Oh I and I remember when I was a kid, my mom would make the pillsbury small round biscuits every day. Just put a small bit of butter in the middle, let it sit for a min, and then eat...wow...orgasmic!

I can totally identify with you on this! My wife is always buying ice cream. And then she and our son eat it in front of me after dinner almost every day. Last night I broke down and ate some too. As I'm eating it I said "would you PLEASE stop buying ice cream!" she just laughed. I can usually resist, but I prefer to just not have it in the house.. I'm always relieved when they finish off a container of ice cream.. but the next day she goes and buys some more! oh well.. at least it's not Papa John's pizza. that stuff is like crack to me...

I'd have taken your opening a few more steps:
Continue the complaints, but in a more, "I'm trying to take better care of myself for you and the kids!" sort of way.
Tell her how much it means to you to be the best Father and Husband you can be because you have been blessed with such a wonderful family and wonderful people in your life.
Compliment her on her cooking/baking skills and say how you'd never mean to complain about having such a terrific lady in your life.
Tell her how you're sorry about yelling and all, but it's just that there's alot you have hanging over your head right now...mention how much stress you're under and how hard you're trying...tellher that sleep has been an issue lately.
Negotiate a blow job from her.
Go to bed.

I have to agree.
While I can certainly sympathize with your issues surrounding fresh baked goods its still your diet here. Not hers. While it might be helpful to you, she is under no obligation to curb or alter her eating habits to make your dieting easier.
Now, in your defense, I will say that baking these things when she did is approaching inconsiderate...but it just isn't quite there. It would have been very considerate of her to not bake these things at such a time, knowing how much you love them. But its a higher level of consideration than I feel anyone should be held to, even a spouse. If I noticed that my wife was not eating things at certain times just to keep temptation away from me it would earn her big bonus points. But I don't expect it.

OP, my question for you is.... if you could fit them in your macros, why not have them at 8pm or later? Do you believe in that crap about not eating carbs after a certain hour? If you're eating healthy most of the time, there is nothing wrong with giving yourself a treat here and there. Life is too short to be so anal about not having some of those small pleasures.

Hell, if my wife ever cooked anything I really loved, I would eat it. Does not happen often I sometimes think we take this all to seriously and like any addiction it can become pathological.

In my opinion Pillsbury croissants taste ... bad. You want a good one, you go to the bakery. Secondly, one pastry is not going to kill you. So, you were wrong.

yell was probably too strong a word.
I have a coworker who claims our boss yells at him,
but the other day he said "yeah *** just yelled at me for doing that" so I busted him on it.
I said "dude, I was there. He didn't even raise his voice, not even a little, he didn't even say it in a mean way"
he said "well...... he did mention it to me"
