Well he out weights her by 50lbs and is half Akita (the most alpha breed of dog there is )
But he does let her win some of the play fights, he very rarely ever makes her submit.

Questions for you guys with big dogs.
I have a german shepherd, about 1 year old, that I cant seem to get to stop wanting to put his paws up on people, or jump on people. He does it playfully, and isnt aggressive at all, but due to his large size, he scares people and on the occasion that he gets close enough to them to put his paw on them, he scratches them. He is trained, he will sit on command, etc, but this he wont stop doing.
Ideas?

When you're playing with him if he jumps up on you to play, stop giving him attention and playing with him. He'll begin to understand he doesnt get attention if he jumps on people, since dogs crave our attention he should stop jumping on ppl.

This....
Though I admit this can be REAL tough to do if you like to rough house with him. (its my very favorite thing in the world...)
He wants you to be happy with him, and if your rough house time is the time he can sence you are the happiest, then he will want to share that feeling with everyone he meets.
The way I got around this is when I get down on all fours I have trained my dogs that this means it is rough house time and daddy is ready to play hard with them. They instently go into head down butt up wagging tail and yipping mode... Best thing ever.. But I have also trained them that when I stand up to 2 legs that play time is over. I reenforce this by everytime I stand up I will stomp one foot (shakes the house lol) and put on an alpha air about me with a low mild short growl, they understand this to mean play time is over, its time to be good and calm down.
This is the natural way to end play time and it is how pack leaders in a dog pack do it. Dont worry its not gonna hurt their feelings, it feels perfectly natural to them.
What this means in their head, is that a person on 2 legs is not to be jumped on. A person that gets down on all 4s is fair game so rough house with.
Give it a try let us know how it goes.

My wife walked in to her cage while the person running the place was not looking, sammy walked up to her and layed completely submissive at her feat. For the first 2 months we had her home, Sammy would only follow my wife, when ever I walked into the room she would hide behind my wifes legs and shake and whine. We took it VERY slow with her. little by little I tried to show her that not every man in the world was going to try to hurt her. (If I ever find the man that did this to her I will be going to jail that night)
One day about 2 months into having her I was sitting on my couch watching the news when out of the corner of my eye I see her sneek onto the other side of the couch. I act like I am not watching her, she lays her head down on the couch and scooches inch by inch over toward my arm.
She touched her nose to my hand and I petted her for the first time since we had her.
That was 2.5 years ago, ever since she is a big daddies girl. She flops down in my lap like she is only 5 lbs (even though shes about 90lbs!)

Nice story, had to bump. Nearly teared up when I read that she touched her nose to your hand, awww
Here's my Chloe, Foxie X (we dont know what with cause she's also a rescue doggie from a shelter). First pic is when we adopted her, she was malnourished and very scared. She also had nightmares frequently and whimpered a lot in her sleep . Next pic is her now, LOL she's come a long way.
And this is Fluffy, a Maltese we found in the rain outside our house a month ago, no-ones claiming her and the owners (from the details on her microchip) wont respond to our calls. Looks like we're keeping her too . First pic is the night we found her.

wow they do look the same, except your boxer is waaay bigger lol.
When i got champion he was 9 months old, not house broken, didnt listen to a single command, and was like 30lbs (if that).
At 14 months he's now 50lbs, allllmost complete house broken, and listens to a bunch of different commands. He's a pure bread and we got him for free, the kid that had him was a college student who just didnt take care of him

Here is some of mine and Tamsin's work.. LOL!
Marla
She was a stray that turned out not to be a stray that we had effectively kidnapped for a night haha! I had found her wondering the streets earlier that night but thought nothing of it until we saw her again later that night looking completely lost.. we fell in love with her immediately because she looked like the myostatin version of Chloe.. but the two of them never really got along haha
Full story can be found here: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showpo...&postcount=335
Fluffy
She was found lost in the rain, we took her in and homed her for a bit AND then she got kidnapped / given away by Tamsin's parents haha, returned after a few nice threats and now she looks like a permanent resident at Tamsins!
Full story can be found here: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showpo...&postcount=456 and http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showpo...&postcount=470
No name..
This one really sucks to tell because we couldn't save her.. we were driving home and found her on the road running against traffic into oncoming cars (dunno how she even survived). She was completely freaked out, had bandages on her tail and we spent most of the night trying to chase and coax her into coming with us but she was too spooked. We just had to leave her in a truck complex for the rangers to get in the morning and dunno what's become of her.
She kinda looked like this:
Full story can be found here: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showpo...&postcount=295
And here's my dog Biskie
Here's her owning Chloe haha.. they were actually best friends until Fluffy came along..
And some hideous coat thing my mum made for her

Awesome pics and stories... Its very sad about the one that got away. Those hurt alot.
I had one that I lost the battle to save, but its still hurts to even type it.
I'd rather hear the success stories!
