I don't really like full on abs, but a defined 'V' is the hottest thing. ever.
Also agree on needing balance between the top and the bottom! Chicken legs aren't too fun.

My wife thinks I am well-proportioned. I naturally have a big butt and thick thighs, my claves are big too. Not bad for a white guy lol.I also don't have to do deadlifts to have a big back, my back is already sizable. Besides I do other things to build my back. I hate deadlifts anyway, I can't do them now even if I wanted to, back injuries will do it to you.
Pull ups and chin ups, and rows work for me. I can squat 405 on the barbell :-). I've only been in the gym for 5 months.

Sorry but you don't squat 503lbs like you say you do in your profile, especially at your height, with your other lifts in consideration, after only 5 months
99.9% sure you're only doing quarter squats buddy

In his post he does say that he squats 405... the profile is an estimated 1RM... in my case nowhere near accurate either... when you put in that you can do a certain weight for a certain number it just calculates this... he is not saying he can do it... and at his weight and age, even if a bit on the chubby side (which I'm not saying you are OP), I don't think it's unreasonable after 5 or so months of training to be able to squat 1.6 body weight... esp if on a smith machine... (not sure if it is or not)... but just speaking from experience... and maybe with good balance it is doable with a free bar... legs are strong...
(5 months into training I could squat 1.6+ body weight but only 60% on the bench press... )

Meatfreak is unaware.
As for all the hatred about the squatting. At my size I can squat 415 6 times. At Freaks size, I wouldnt doubt he could do it so hastily.

Just love the all over, lean, conditioned look; think Tony Horton from P90X. Gigantic frog men look...not sure whats up with that. But scrawny runner look too....
Now look. I am NOT criticizing ANYONE. I am proud of everyone who takes care of their health, but there seems to be more of a balance that is just really attractive. Thats the look I like in myself also-less of a "body builder", but not scrawny like a runner, but overall conditioned, lean and ripped.

Haha. LMAO.
Very well said bluelinersgirl!
Guys tend to freak out a bit when they see you loading up the leg press. They always tend to come over and ask if I need a spot.. even if I;m doing a lighter lift. Maybe feeling threatened as over 80% of the guys at my gym never even train legs?!? :P

I use sex sometimes as motivation.. which is ironic because I never have sex. But, regardless, it's fun.
For instance, on the triceps pushdown I like to think of myself railing a chick hardcore at the full extended rep. So with each rep I'm thinking BAM(!), oh yeah, you like that, bish? BAM! Another rep. Then on that last rep I think to myself, "If I don't get this last one, I can't cum," and then I'm struggling to get it just before I reach failure. I fking NAIL IT, and I'm screaming in my head, "FCKKKK YEAHHHHH!!" as she is moaning intensely in pleasure, and then I finish the set, breathe a sigh, and think, "Fk, that was good, dirty bish got it hard."
Then rest for my next set and rail her again.

yeah, but you gotta give the guys a break, think about it: they want a woman who takes care of her body and is in good shape...best place to find a high concentration of these women? The gym. The bar? Not so much.
As far as the butts/chicken legs discussion goes, my bf works his ASS off at the gym trying to get his calves/thighs bigger, and with little to no progress (he works WAY harder than I do!!!), so we girls gotta give 'em a break if they're at least trying...
but my bf has got the best man ass...oh boy, do i love me a nice sturdy ass to grab!!!

I suppose so. But maybe it's the way they approach me that I dont like. Cant explain it. Theoretically, the gym would be a good place to meet a man whos as serious about fitness like me.
I get approached by the guys who:
1 - the ones who act like they know it all when it's conspicuous that they dont. This is the guy who assumes that I dont know my way around the weight room just because I'm a woman. (Some guy walked up to me and tried to talk to me in the middle of my set of squats. He was giving me wrong pointers. I politely corrected him. He then asks me out for coffee. Nah! No thank you.)
2 - I would be flattered if he's checking me out. I'm with ya. Nothing like a nice ass and V shape - so attractive. And can I not help noticing such a guy? But then there are guys who stare or ogle at me. It makes me more self-conscious I guess.
Okay, I'll take it as a compliment and give the guy a break for trying.

I hate the same thing. Good part for the ladies is that at least guys are giving advice because they don't have a one-liner to open the door to ask you out. So yea, it is a compliment (in the middle of a set is bad-timing also!), even if he's butt ugly.
When a guy gives another guy advice in the gym. it's an insult all the way. He thinks he's smarter than you are, and it's funny that I've never had a guy give me any correct unsolicited advice in all the years I've been in the gym. Like you, I wish they just leave me alone.

PS- about those bird legs.. some of that is genetic and even if a guy works all the parts evenly- his body may still look unbalanced- don't assume that he's an idiot who is ignoring something. There is a guy at my gym with very underbuilt calves and he works on them religiously with little to no change. If I saw him on the street it would be really unfair for me to make assumptions about his workout based on his calf muscles.
|
Thank you!!! I have, and continue to work my calves out heavy, light wieght with burnouts, and none of it makes a big difference. There is some growth, but genetically, Im screwed. My dad was a runner, so I got his calves. But my upper body can gain some weight. My wife also says I have a bubble lifted butt? I guess that's good, bad?

I hear ya, lol! I can't grow 'leg' either.
And hey, bubble butt's are great. But aren't they all pretty much 'lifted' to begin with? I've never seen a low riding bubble butt. :P

I wish that guys in the gym would worry more about great form and less about ego (especially when there's a woman in close proximity!). There's nothing hotter than a guy with a great squat ass doing those squats with a decent amount of weight, but with perfect form.

Amen to that. And there's no good reason to go ass to floor. That's stupid, and it quits the constant tension you're giving your quads whenever you lock yourself like that. It's the same with bench, curls, and pretty much any other exercise. When I bench or curl, I only go at a 90 degree angle, it helps create constant tension in the muscle. When I squat, my ass and thighs are parallel to the floor, with my calves just barely touching the bottom of my thighs, very close to under the knee. People need to realise how important the 90 degree angle is for true muscle growth, and eliminating joint problems. So many people are stuck on info from the 80's and 90's, this is 2009! lol.
