Anybody been awake during wisdom tooth extraction?
Getting my wisdom teeth taken out...2 bottom ones.....will most likely be awake during this procedure with only Novocaine to numb the pain. Has anyone else done this? Wondering what sort of pain im lookin at experiencing.
Teeth are inside the gums, gums need to be cut in order to remove them.

Awake for mine. A lot of pulling/yanking/cracking noises. Pain was a bitch after the 'caine wore off but they'll give you some pills to take care of that.

I was sedated and knocked out and woke up for awhile while they were doin it. They had some pliers like tools and were pullin on my teeth after they cut my gums open. I was so doped up I didnt even care.... you wont feel it, but the docs say mentally its better for u to be put to sleep

i had 1 wisdom tooth removed about 4 months ago. i opted to just take the novacaine, and it was a breeeze. i got shot up, waited about 15 minutes or so for it to set in, and it was on.
There was absolutely no pain during the procedure. You feel a lot of pressure, hear cracking noises, and can "feel" the tooth coming out.
You'll be fine.

I stayed awake for mine when I got my bottom two pulled. The whole thing took 15 minutes from the time I was numb. Once I was numb they just pulled them out. I didn't feel anything but my head did rock once they broke loose from my mouth and then it made this kick ass pop noise. I didn't feel any pain it was pretty cool and I'd do it again.

Wasn't bad. You can here the tooth cracking and ripping away from it's roots. Yours might be bad though since it's surgery where they have to cut them out instead of just pulling it out. They just gave me some shots around the tooth and ripped that bitch out.

I took a day off classes so I took every drug they were willing to hit me up w/. I had gas, novocaine and something in a IV. I was still "awake" for the first one and after it got pulled, I said something and scared the **** out of the dentist. No memory of much after that though.

I was awake for the top 2...but those 2 had already come out of the gums so it was jsut a standard extraction....im worried about the cutting part and the possible requirement of cracking teeth etc...w/e ill just man up

They put me out when I had all 4 taken out at the same time but woke me up like a half hour early. Was very pissed. Hurt quite a bit but no where near as bad as passing a kidney stone. fml.

Drove myself home as well. One of the roots on mine was J-shaped and my dentist had a hell of a time getting it out.

lol, i was actually awake. I had mangled tooth roots requiring xtra pulling. Alot of pulling and crackling and pressure. Wasn't that bad at all. Anybody who gets put under is extremely beta, its an experience everybody should encounter awake. The main problem you may encounter is keeping the bloodclots from breaking after the procedure when you get home.
