Liftjunkie's review of new Thermolife Vasolate, choc pb and banana
One of the guys at thermolife was nice enough to let me try this. Thanks for the opportunity. I wil update once I've tried banana, which I'm not a huge fan of artificial banana so we'll see...
Taste:
Chocolate Peanut Butter, w/ milk: 9/10. OK, this is a really spot on flavor and I enjoyed it. Since taste is subjective, it's tough because I personaly like dark chocolate better, and this is more of a milk chocolate flavor. Definitely taste the PB, which is rare, and I burped later and wished i had more. It left me satisfied but wanting more, if that makes sense. Best casein I've ever tried. I would like a little more chocolate flavor, but the taste is almost perfect for most IMO. One of the best proteins I've had, up there with dessert protein and muscle milk. It was almost too sweet.
With water 8.5/10. Still tasted great, just a little thinner and lighter on flavor. Great in water though.
Banana, with water: TBD
Banana, with milk: TBD
Chocolate PB, with oats: 9/10. Very good, couldn't do much better myself with actual PB and chocolate. I almost liked it better than in milk, but I love oats.
Mixability with oats: 9/10. Excellent mixability.
Mixability with milk: 9.5/10. Very thick and creamy, slight foam, which I like, and very satisfying. Mixed great in a shaker and NO complaints here. No grit, no lumps, etc.
Mixability with water: 9/10. Great.
Price: 7/10. This stuff is up there in price, but quality IMO. I personally would do 1 scoop instead of 2 and that would help the cost.
Consistency, with milk: 9.5/10. Very good, almost perfect. A thick shake that was almos tlike I made it in a blender. very good.
Consistency, with water: 8.5/10. Just slightly watery so I'd use just a little less water. Still excellent though.
Consistency, with oats: 9/10. Barely tell it was there, except for the great taste.
Profile: 8/10. I have mixed feelings here. A couple things stand out: 3 sweeteners (fructose, ace-k, and sucralose), creatine mono. i personally like not having mono in my shakes as I limit my intake and don't like getting it unless I measure it. It has a nice protein profile but I would like to see egg. i'm not sure about the new leucine so can't comment on that. Since it is almos tlike an MRP some more vitamins may be good, but the may affect taste.
Overall, it's a different and intriguing formula, and worth a try IMO.
Overall: 9.25/10 this is an excellent casein/blend IMO. It tastes wonderful, mixes great, and has a good profile. It is up there in price but quality so I'm not surprised. Definitely something to look at if you're in the market for an MRP or pre-bed, etc.
Thanks to Thermolife for letting me try this out.

Banana update
OK, have to preface this as saying I DO NOT like banana flavored products (still have had several) never have, but I had to try this. That being said, it was the BEST tasting banana I have ever had. It was a mix between an artificial flavor and a natural one. VERY enjoyable, left me licking the shaker top. Great in water as well as oats. Milk was the best and outstanding. Used red as yellow text is rough.
Banana, w/ milk: 9.5/10.
Banana, w/ water: 9/10.
Banana, w/ oats: 9/10. Same as above.
THanks for the samples, great product guys!
