Sad but true
For many, money is more important than their health. Taking care of their health requires much more hard work. Outside of a solid diet, and proper rest, that 4-6 hours/week etc. in the gym is just too much.
If they focus on money, they feel and have been convinced that they can buy their health.
They can buy and live off meds, and even buy surgeries feeling they're fixing obesity. People love to eat
The best health insurance is diet and exercise.

Money is nothing too me. Yeah I like it too live and pay the bills, but I dont need fancy cars and all that get up. I need enough money to live, pay the bills, take care of my daughter and get too the gym and thats it. In fact if I dont have the gym I am a lost depressed man, seriously, I just had some health issues here with my thyroid causing, me to go into a-fib and all that, took some time off from the gym and was completely down on myself, got back in their today and feel great, money cant do that for me, i get tired of things I buy, but I never get tired of building my body and reaching my goals.

I think my health is important..... and i want money too......lots of it. Simple.
Yep money cant buy your health......but it pays for the medical bills, food, gym etc.
Money cant buy you happiness but it sure helps pay for the things that help you be happy (travel, creature comforts etc)
we are allowed to have both.

Spot on! I love health and fitness but knew it wasn't going to make me wealthy. Which is why I leveraged myself with another business that compliments my personal training and I can retire off of in ten years.

see this is one thing that i dont agree with.
Dont for a second tell me that you cannot get wealthy of the health and fitness industry becuase that is BS.
Its whatever you want it to be. With that said you wont get wealthy working for someone else.

I should have been more specific. I did not feel that I could attain wealth as a personal trainer solely. Now obviously there are exceptions but the majority of wealthy ($750k-$1Mil) per year income earners who are Personal Trainers offer other services rather than 1 on 1 PT (books, DVD etc...). If you don't think so, please find me someone who makes that kind of money trading time for dollars doing strictly PT.
BRB charging $360/hour 40 hours per week 52 weeks per year.
Good luck with the burnout. lmao!

no no you are correct there. I own a studio with staff. We do group stuff as well which makes so much more than 1 on 1. We sell our own brand of clothing and supplements. Im in the process of making dvds and take home products.
the more poles you have in the water the better.

all i need $ for is basic foods (i don't have expensive tastes), trance shows, & working out. xD ... although i get my gym pass for free @ a FEW places (i have my pick every day; feels good, man,) 'cause of teaching there. =O
i also live on the top floor of my grandma's house by myself. & she doesn't charge me rent!!! =O i'll be living here for as long as i please, 'cause i never wanna get married/kids. feels good, man. xD

not really. sure you may be "content" (aka settling) with your current life but you cant tell me that if you had more luxurious things it wouldn't be a little nicer.
Thats not even mentioning the curveballs life throws at you such as out of the blue bills that you arent expecting.
I know i sleep easier knowing i have more than enough to cover me in times of need rather than worrying if i have enough to get through.

Yeah but if you have a comfortable income you can be smart and save that money. If you really think about it. Think about back in your college days or when at a point when you werent doing so well. Maybe you were making only 25k a year or something, but you had your bills paid, had a car, had some of the nicer things, still wanted a little more though every now then. Now take that and add 15 or 20 k on top of that, you still have your bills paid, you still have a ride all that with the 25 k, now you have a little more room to splurge everynow and then but if your smart a good portion of that extra 20 k can be saved. That what I did, I buy used cars, we eliminated car payments, we have no credit cards, our total income is around 65k a year (although that is going to jump up, when the wife gets done with nursing school finally!! lol), we got nice things, got a nice three bed home low monthly payments, my splurge is I gotta have the latest video games and all that lol, my daughter and my wife gets what they want and needs and I have a little exrta saved up for those hard times like your talking about.
The problem people have is they think they have too have a brand new car, man I roll up in my plymouth voyager lol and park right next too the guy with the caddy or some expensive car and have absolutely no shame you know why? Cuz when the **** hits the fan and the economy goes bad, we lose our jobs, he'll be the one contemplating suicide because he cant handle the loss, I on the other hand, oh well, I live somewhat below my means, we can adjust, we will make ends meet.

Off topic, but why don't you have more results profiles up on your site? There was only like 2 with pics and 2 without. If I were you I'd be all over bumping that up a notch.

Obese =/= unhealthy
Lean =/= healthy
Body composition and health are separate issues, unless the person has very low (<6% for men, <11% for women) or very high (>30%, >40%) bodyfat.
What is a healthy body has a far, far wider range of variation than what is an attractive body in whatever is today's fashion.
For example, I know a 55 year old guy who is a former kickboxer. He can benchpress 102.5kg, leg press 300kg for several reps, do 12 wide-grip chinups, achieves 8.9 on the beep test, and can kick his foot up to head height without dropping his torso. He has a good level of strength, fitness and flexibility - outstanding when compared to other men his age.
He also has a fat gut, and is in no way physically attractive by today's or any other era's fashion standards. He's healthy, but if I posted a picture of him just standing around, I doubt that any of you here would say, "he looks healthy," and would make disgusted noises about his fat gut.
I know many young women who are slim and people not trained in fitness would say, "she looks fit." But some can manage only a single knee pushup, sweat if they have to run 100 yards for the train, they smoke, and cannot touch their toes. They are unhealthy. Yet if I posted pictures of them just standing around, most here would say, "they look healthy."
Yes, it is generally true that when you meet an obese person, they are unhealthy. But it is also generally true that when you meet a slim person, they are unhealthy. Most people have poor strength, fitness and flexibility, and poor diets. Some people's physical inactivity and poor diet leads to obesity, some leads to skinniness (especially teenaged girls).
The confusion of body composition for overall health is a serious problem for the fitness industry, and for people doing physical training. This is why I say health doesn't get you laid - being slim might get you laid, but being slim and being healthy are not the same thing.

Actually because of the clients I serviced out in Scottsdale, many did not want people to see their before pics! I had a lot of clients who were affluent and didn't want to be associated with the fat person they USED to be.
I'm just starting to do in person training again here in NorCal so I hope to have a few testimonials soon.

you cant pay the bills with your health. Although the longer you live the more bills you'll be paying. Kinda a double standard there.

Very good point - we live in a TREATMENT based society, not prevention -
This is America, so cash rules everything, but unfortunately people pursue it at the expense of health, morality, and relationships -
But ....
As trainers this isn't necessarily a bad thing -
I see this especially in New York ...
You won't find people more career and money focused than over here -
But this creates a blind need and dependence for them on trainers -
So long story short, wherever you see a problem, you can make money fixing it - but at least as trainers, we are doing it in a preventative sense ....
As opposed to Doctors, who are there to essentially "take out the trash" from a toxic lifestyle -
